Product Description

All Natural Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica is a pure natural super greenfood, containing protein, betacarotene, and essential vitamins & minerals. Doctors and scientists recommend that we eat 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. For most people, this rarely happens. That’s one reason why you should take Hawaiian Spirulina every day. Spirulina is a “Superfood.” It is the most nutritious, concentrated whole food known to humankind. One 3 gram serving of Hawaiian Spirulina provides more antioxidant activity than 5 servings of fruits and vegetables! Spirulina has 2300% more iron than spinach, 3900% more beta carotene than carrots, 300% more calcium than whole milk, and 375% more protein than tofu. Comparing phytonutrient levels, Spirulina is 31 times more potent than blueberries and 60 times more potent than spinach! As the growers of Hawaiian Spirulina, we focus on ways to protect the superb antioxidant quality through all phases of production. Our patented Ocean Chill drying delivers twice the antioxidant quality of other Spirulina products. It is also extremely important that Spirulina is properly packaged. Our research shows that plastic bottle packaging was allowing oxidation to destroy precious nutrients. The Spirulina goes from the ponds to finished product in less than 30 minutes, then we use glass packaging with oxygen absorbers and sealing caps to ensure the maximum freshness and potency of nutrients. Our facility uses ocean water drawn from a pipeline that plunges 2000 feet into the Pacific Ocean. We supplement our Spirulina systems with this deep seawater as a source of calcium, magnesium, and all 94 trace elements. No other Spirulina is grown with such special water with its rich source of naturally occurring nutrients. Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica supports Eye Health, Immune Function, Healthy Cholesterol Levels, Cellular Health, and Increased Energy.

Keep it well sealed.

Do be aware that this is a very fine powder and it was a little messy transferring the spirulina to my glass jar, even carefully using a scoop.

I absolutely love the taste of a good quality spirulina.

I am a self-confessed Spirulina junkie. I absolutely love the taste of a good quality spirulina. Nearly every day I'll have 2 tablespoons of spirulina powder - sometimes blended with fresh organic greens, sprouts, and freshly ground organic flax seeds or chia seeds. Other times I just mix the spirulina with water and guzzle it down.

For over 10 years I've been an organic health food nut. I've tried dozens of specialized diets, different herbal detox cleanses, juice fasts, fruit fasts, water fasts, etc etc. I've tried over a hundred different research-backed supplements. After all my years of experimentation, my cabinet has gotten smaller and smaller. The cleaner my body got, the more my body disliked any processed supplements or fancy dieting practices. Throughout all this time, my body has always loved spirulina. Nothing feels quite like it.

My most memorable experience was when I broke a 20-day water fast. For the first 2 days I tried freshly juiced organic fruits. The sugar was way too intense and it didn't feel right for my body. Then I tried a spirulina & water drink. It was amazing! The blood in my body literally vibrated and tingled! I had never experienced my blood tingling before - it was awesome! And my energy levels soared within minutes. I could feel the spirulina nourish my blood while also cleanse it.

I've tried a small handful of spirulina brands in recent years. I rank two brands above the rest. Nutrex Hawaii Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica Powder, 5-pound Bag and Health Force

The reviews on this product are correct. It is by far the best tasting Spirulina on the market. I like to add some avocado with my shake and it softens/lightens the taste of the spirulina.

What follows is my review I posted on the 1lb jars of Nutrex Spirulina a few years ago, with a few extra comments regarding this bulk 5 lb option (which is the way I buy it).

My so-called "reviews" are typically long. This is no exception. If that's not what you're after, I provide the IN BRIEF section at the top. If you have the time and inclination to browse over a lot more information about spirulina, please read the FULL REVIEW. If you find this review helpful, please click the button that says so. Thanks.

<< IN BRIEF - THE CONDENSED REVIEW >>

With this brand of Spirulina you are on to a good thing! Especially as far as taste and quality are concerned.

Simply put, after 20+ years of Spirulina usage, this is the best Spirulina I know of, at one of the the best prices (and shipping options) I have seen anywhere online and off-line. If the best tasting Spirulina, made to high standards, is what you are looking for, this is the one to buy. In my opinion, it's best to pass on the slightly cheaper non-Hawaiian varieties (from India, China, etc.). There are a few other US made brands that are also good, but for reasons explored below, I stick with the Hawaiian variety.

If you've never had spirulina, try this one first, as that taste is the easiest to handle. If you've had (non-Hawaiian) spirulina and didn't like the taste, try this one as it will likely taste better.
Worried about Fukushima fall-out? Nutrex spirulina comes up clean. Only into RAW foods? Nutrex spirulina is dried at below 116F using a patented "OceanChilled" drying process. It's about as raw as you'll get unless you grow your own fresh spirulina. Looking for organic spirulina only? Nutrex was certified organic up until around 2008.

I made the mistake of buying this 5-pound bag of powdered Spirulina before trying out a smaller-sized jar. Now I'm stuck with all this glop which doesn't mix and has the consistency of crude-oil.
This stuff just doesn't blend! I started with a spoon and a glass but that wasn't working because the spirulina stuck to the mixing spoon and to the sides and bottom of the glass. I then purchased a juicer-blender and ran into the same problem. I even tried coating the glass with flax-seed oil, but no success.
That being said, I know that Spirulina is good for you and so I will continue to find ways to get it down.

I was recommended spirulina as a treatment for fatigue and anxiety. I have only been taking it for about a week and not always 6 tablets a day as suggested but it seems to be doing me good so far so will stay at it.

Package arrived perfect and still with the vaccum seal, product seems very fresh. The quality of the spirulina itself seems excellent and is great in my whole green smoothies/juices (do not even notice any taste); but this is my first time buying and using spirulina so I have nothing to compare it to...While a bit pricey, keep in mind this is a huge bag, and the serving size is only 1 tsp, so you better have room in your fridge or freezer. They say it keeps up to 3 years if you keep it chilled. I filled a glass jar with this for the fridge for daily use, and double bagged the rest and put it in the freezer. Do be aware that this is a very fine powder and it was a little messy transferring the spirulina to my glass jar, even carefully using a scoop. I did not take any stars off for this, just something to be aware of. I have not used it long enough to testify to any long lasting health benefits, but is very high in vitamins A, K, B12 and iron.
