4.0 out of 5 stars It works if used right, October 11, 2010
I am a 44 year old male who has been looking for a Hydroxycut Hardcore replacement since they changed the formula and it was not working for me anymore.

A friend of mine told me about Lipo 6 so I tried it. At the time I did not realize that there were actually 3 different formulas so I tried the "original" Lipo 6 and while it did seem to give me a little more energy I did not notice any kind of significant weight loss or more energy at the gym or when kickboxing.

I then tried the Lipo 6X. It was pretty much the same as the Lipo 6, maybe a little more energy. I did see some "extra" weight loss for the 8 weeks I was taking it.

I then tried this product, Lipo 6 Black. I have to say that I am pleased with this product. I have definitely had more energy when I took it and overall I feel like I have some extra energy when I am kickboxing and at the gym. But, the part that REALLY makes me like this product is that I definitely sweat a lot more. I am not jittery and I feel that I am able to concentrate on the task at hand better. I have seen significant weight loss, 16 pounds in the 4 weeks I have been taking it.

Let me just fill you in on why I was looking for a fat burner. I used to be a gym rat, I am talking 7 days a week, I was bulked up and 240 pounds, took N.O. products, protein products, Creatin, and a lot more. Then I turned 40 :(. LOL. All of a sudden I was noticing that maintaining a hard 240 wasn't so easy anymore. My gym time started suffering but I was still eating the same as when I was working out everyday, can you say "260 pounds here I come?" I then started kickboxing for cardio 4 days a week and light lifting 2 days in the gym and taking Hydroxycut Hardcore. I was able to get to 245 pretty easily then HC changed their formula. and I was stuck at 245 and looking for something new. The first Lipo did nothing, no change in exercise. The second, Lipo 6X got me to 235 with no change in exercise or eating habits in 8 weeks. Lipo 6 Black has now got me to 219 in 4 weeks and I still have 4 more weeks of this cycle. I will definitely go back on another 8 week cycle once I do my 4 weeks off.

I have taken this product 2 different ways, always consuming 6 pills a day. On days that I kickbox I take 2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon, around noon, and 2 in the evening right before kickboxing for the energy boost. On days that I go to the gym in the afternoon, I take 3 in the morning and 3 right before I go to the gym, usually around 1 in the afternoon.

I am also very serious about my diet. I have 4 egg whites every morning on a whole wheat wrap, turkey bacon and a low fat cheese. I do 3 protein shakes a day, each with 40 grams of protein. On top of my breakfast, I eat 2 other meals a day usually consisting of either chicken breast or turkey breast with vegetables and red potatoes. I keep my calorie intake to between 2000 to 2400 a day and I have a target weight of 170. I am 5' 10" tall with a large frame. I am not new to the whole excercise/weight thing since I have been doing it since I was 17. It is just my goals that have changed.

I know this was a lengthy review but I hope you find it useful. I will also answer any questions that I can if you leave me a message on the comments section.

One more thing, if you think that ANY product is going to help you lose weight and all you have to do is take some pills, sit on a couch watching Springer and popping Bon Bons, you are sadly mistaken and I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I am selling real cheap.

Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Well, August 6, 2009
The effects of this product will vary from person to person, I've heard from some that it did wonders for and others it just made them feel sick. I've tried past Nutrex - Lipo 6 brands (6 and 6X), and this one has worked the best of the three for me. Lipo 6 standard gave me a noticeable boost, but made me kind of anxious and I did not notice any weight loss really. Lipo-6X was even worse and just made me feel nauseous and anxious, even at the minimum doses.

I'm normally too tired from waking up early and working all day that by the time I get home I just crash and go to sleep because I have no energy to do anything else. But with Lipo-6 Black it gives me just enough of a boost to where I don't just want to go right to sleep when I get home, so I can get some exercising done. It's a very very subtle boost, not a noticeable jolt that will make your heart rate go off the charts just by taking it or anything. It also doesn't make me feel nauseous at all - even at the maximum recommended dosage, something I can't say about the past two Lipo6 products. After two months I've about gotten rid of the fat I had around my lower abdomen/lovehandles area that I had developed during the last winter food/beer season , so it seemingly works. But I've also been running/exercizing daily and eating pretty decently though, you can't just take it and sit all day eating mcdonalds and expect it to have the same effects.

I'll stick with this as my remedy for the yearly holiday weight gain in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lipo6Black, December 15, 2009
this product works. In about 2 months I went from 188 to now, 163. I usually take 3 before my workout, you dont need to take 3 in the morning/ 3 later b/c they are just trying to make you use up the bottle quicker. Along with a good diet, this product will work wonders.

2.0 out of 5 stars Drink coffee instead, March 24, 2010
This review is from: Lipo 6 Black (Health and Beauty)
I was looking for something thermogenic to boost my metabolism and give me a kick in the butt right before working out. I bought this on the recommendation of the dude at GNC, who meant well, but it would've been nice to be told, then, what I'm telling you now: this stuff is coffee in a pill.

The kick is only a tiny one (I drink a couple cups of coffee in the morning, so I'm not working with a pure system, here), and my workouts have actually decreased, though this could be due to calorie-restrictions). So this doesn't give the crazy "Gonna double my reps/ swim twice as long" boost you may be looking for. The first couple days I got a slight Aderol-type focus, but it was false, as my diminished workouts prove, I think. I am a lot more restless at night, and haven't lingered in bed in the mornings. I believe that is due to this product. I'm not jittery or distracted, just not tired in the least, so that may be beneficial for some applications, a night out dancing, maybe?

As a diuretic this stuff is effective, but that may be due to the extra water I'm drinking, cuz I'm back at the gym, and not the lipo 6. I've lost Not A Pound in the week I've been taking these (two at a time, not the max three---I'm drinking coffee, too---twice a day). I've modified my eating to the 6 mini-meals per day, geared towards helping my body metabolise faster. I believe I am smart enough, old enough (41) and have shed tons of winter couch-fat throughout my life, in a variety of methods, to be able to give this review: Lipo 6 is not worth buying. Period. A cup of coffee half an hour before working out does the deal much better.

I follow directions, so don't assume maybe I'm doing it wrong; and like I said I'm not a newb to the gym...maybe this would work for someone who doesn't exercise and has gallons of weight to lose. I can see this helping to remove water weight. But, even after putting on 40 winter pounds (I don't display it obviously. I just get denser, not more corpulent, so 40 pounds for me may not be 40 pounds for a person who's regularly 150 pounds. I'm generally 220, and that's healthy for me), this stuff doesn't even make me sweat extra. In fact, I feel as though I'm sweating LESS on the treadmill, and that's weird. I sweat like a pig! (I'm wiping less up off the machine afterwards) and I've started drinking extra water to help absorb this stuff, the other supplements (vits, fish oil, glucosamine, occasional bee pollen, nothing too major other than the glucosamine which needs lots extra water), and to further help shed fat. I'm also not one of those minimal body fat guys who wouldn't notice. I jiggle a bit here and there and you can't see anything approaching abs, though I'm not rolling with fat.

That's my review. I paid a bunch for the stuff, and it does initially give a slight buzz, and I figure maybe the first week back is ineffective, so I'm going to cycle through the whole bottle then modify this review as needed, so I'm not giving partial info. But based on experience, I'm willing to bet this stuff will result in zero benefit to my workouts, and won't be the reason for extreme (their language, not mine...it's on the bottle. Should've figured it out then.) weight-loss that I'm looking for (20-30 pounds of sedentary chub in a few months) nor does it provide me with the ephedrine pre-workout bump I wanted (heck, I've used a variety of tools to get the real extreme workouts. This doesn't even really register).

Will update in a couple weeks. Will use something else next time around.

UPDATE: After a month or so, I still have half the bottle. It hasn't grown on me, nor do I change my opinion. I will use three of these pills then hop in the pool, but they will keep you restless all night, though you can still sleep, but wake up a bunch. I've read that Yohimbe targets alpha receptors on fat cells to release fat in order to be metabolized, and this pill falls into that category. After several days use I feel a little trimmer, but don't know if it's the pills, the workouts (aided by the pills, admittedly, but no more than like a big cup o joe prior to workout), or the pills' suppression of appetite (a very real benefit). I can't say if I'm shedding fat faster than usual, but I understand the science behind the pill a bit better. I guess raise my opinion from one star to two. Two and a half, maybe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy IT!!!!, April 23, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Well it took two weeks, but WOW! I'm 6'3" 276lbs, wasn't trying to lose crazy weight but clear the fat storage spots;mission accomplished. Not really fealing a crazy energy boost or anything like that but it does heat your insides up a bit. Nothing uncomfortable but you notice. Your core temp goes up so not the pill to be taking and then going out in the scorching heat.

Phenomenal product body fat is down 2%(was 16%), waist lost an inch & half, and the weight is 267.

I work out 5-6 times a week: cardio is 30min on lite days and an hour on hard; every other day. Lifting takes and hour and abs is everyday.

Results will vary, but the product will do for you what you need, if you have a good workout plan and diet.(mine is low carbs and sugars, right now, but it changes from month to month)

Summertime is coming GET IT!

A lot of hype!!! Did not notice a difference in energy levels and certainly did not see a difference AT ALL in the loss of weight. Save your money and watch what you eat and EXERCISE, EXERCISE. Eating sensibly and keeping active is the only thing that will help. THERE ARE NO MAGIC PILLS that will give you a six pack or dancer's body in a pill bottle. Have wasted so much money and NO MORE!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much caffeine, May 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I can't definitively say these have helped me lose weight, I'm down around 2-3lbs in a month but that's nothing unexpected given my diet and levels of exercise. What I can say is this product overdoes it with caffeine (at least for me, and my genetic testing indicates I'm a fast caffeine metabolizer). Taking 3 pills twice daily amounts to 0.4g of caffeine per day, which is around 5 espressos. If you already have a high tolerance to caffeine this may be ok, but going from my typical 1 cup of coffee (or more often tea) per day to this has caused problems (e.g. anxiety in the day and difficulty sleeping at night, even after taking in the morning and early afternoon). I will try a different product next time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good energy, January 24, 2011

I have used a variety of these products, not for weight loss per se, but for the extra energy that gives me extra motivation to work out. I think, for this purpose, that the caffeine-laden Lipo-6 pills are effective. At the end of a long work day, having taken a second dose in the late afternoon, I find myself energetic and ready to go to the gym.

If, you were thinking these pills were your magic key to dropping a few pounds while you sit and play Call of duty, keep looking.
