Naturelle - you are not fooling anyone.

I notice that I'm losing much less of my hair than before I starting using this shampoo, and it seems to be helping on that score.

I started using this product as a generic (i.e., cheaper) alternative to the salon shampoo Nioxin. I have loved it for years because its active ingredients kept my seborrheic dermatitis at bay. An added benefit is that it made my hair look and feel great. Like Nioxin, Nutri-Ox shampoo has a minty smell and feels cool like a peppermint on my scalp. (I'm not sure which ingredient has this effect.)

Others have used it for thinning hair, but I did not have that problem. My hairdresser always remarked that I had thick, strong hair, especially for someone my age (40-something).

Well, in the spring of 2014, Naturelle changed the packaging of the shampoo to a taller, narrower bottle. (Thanks - now it's just more likely to fall over.) But - worse than that - they have changed the formula of the shampoo as well! It does not smell or feel the same on my scalp. I noticed this right away but hoped that it would still work to control my seborrheic dermatitis.

Over the time that I was using Nutri-Ox products, I started taking medication that has "hair loss" as a side effect. I never had that side effect, probably because I was using Nutri-Ox the whole time. Well, at my next hair salon appointment, two months after the formula change, my hairdresser told me that she noticed that my scalp had never been in such bad condition - redness and irritated areas - and my hair was significantly thinner. (She had no idea that I had effectively changed shampoos due to the formula change.) It turns out that 50% of my hair had fallen out! I had also noticed that my scalp was totally pink-red every day and my scalp just hurt - if I touched my hair the movement of the hair shaft and follicle made that part of my scalp hurt like it was being scraped by a wire brush.

This shampoo and the conditioner that goes with it are made to clean the scalp and help to reduce hair loss due to clogged pours. It works great especially after using the name brand products from the store. I've been using this for over a year and have noticed that my hair is staying put. No more flakes or hair loss.

I have a hormonal condition which was causing my hair to fall out. It was drastically affecting my self esteem. It was really bad. You could see my scalp through my hair in bright sunlight. It was getting so bad that I was becoming a shut in. I almost never left my house. I was considering buying a wig, but I was sad because I knew I would never be able to afford a really nice one that looked like real hair. I was going to have to become "hat girl" or something. And I seriously look weird in hats. A hair dresser friend of mine told me about this shampoo called Nioxin. She said it really worked and I should check it out. So I did, and my heart fell when I noticed it cost upwards of 25-35 dollars a bottle. I was in Sally's Beauty Supply one day looking at this powder that is suppose to make your hair look thicker. I mentioned to the sales lady about Nioxin and I said, "I just can't afford it." And she said, "Well, we have Nutri-Ox. It's like the generic brand. It's the exact same thing, but it costs a lot less." So I bought the shampoo, the conditioner, and the Next Step treatment for First Signs of Hair Loss (3A). Looking back I maybe should have bought the Noticeable Hair Loss (3B), but I got a starter kit that came with all three products together. I took it home and used it. That kit lasted about a month and at the end of that month I noticed that I was indeed losing a lot less hair. I have been using these products for 9 months now, and I have much thicker hair. I have begun taking a medication that has a known side effect of causing hair loss. I'm really worried about it. One of the things that people say really helps nip that side effect in the bud is this shampoo. I am hoping that I won't have to deal with hair loss because I have been using this shampoo, conditioner, and scalp treatment for so long already, but only time will tell. In general, I love it, and I will continue to use it.

It takes a while to notice the difference, but with continued use this product seems to be very good for restoring healthy hair. Wlith a delicate minty scent, this shampoo lathers well, cleans the scalp well, and provides a good PH balance to reduce shedding. I haven't used the Nutri-ox conditioner yet because I'm still using Ceraderm Peppermint Plus Condtioner, which I love because of its outstanding effect on hair manageability, but I plan to try the Nutri-ox version when that's gone because it appears to be less expensive than Ceraderm. I would definitely recommend Nutri-ox Shampoo based on my experience with it.

I purchased the shampoo, conditioner, and spray in a kit from Sally's Beauty Supply. I should have put it back on the shelf when I noticed their deceptive pricing. Because I'm desperate for a solution, I purchased this kit against my better judgment. Time will tell if it actually produces any results. I do notice that it smells AWFUL and that my hair feels weighted down. I am out almost thirty bucks and am not happy. For many of you, that's no big deal, but it's a HUGE deal to me.
