Nutrition for Life,
By Chicago German "Gman" (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nutrition for Life: A No Fad, Non-Nonsense Approach to Eating Well and Reaching (Paperback)
Was recommended through my physician's hospital. Something simple that provides the basic information I needed. I am a consumer and not in the health industry so I really only needed something to give me a heads-up. Easy to read and understand and wriiten by a qualified professional.

Healthy, balanced and simple...,
This review is from: Nutrition for Life: A No Fad, Non-Nonsense Approach to Eating Well and Reaching (Paperback)
I found this to be one of the easier nutrition books to understand.
I liked the fact that there were chapters for different people, ie toddlers, teenagers, woman etc. The pictures and recipes were also very good, but yet simple.

Great book. Have all the information you need for a healthy lifestyle. Read it through once at least, then you can always use it as a reference book later. Cannot think about a better book.

Great basic Nutrition Book!,
This review is from: Nutrition for Life: A No Fad, Non-Nonsense Approach to Eating Well and Reaching (Paperback)
This book was really good. It has all the information you could ever want to know on the topic. But, some of the details were off. For example, when it describes the Weight Watchers Diet, it says that each person gets a certain number of points per day, It forgets to mention that you also get an extra 49 points per week to spend on treats. Besides 2 or 3 small errors like that, this book is perfect. Well worth the money!

This book is my nutrition bible,
This review is from: Nutrition for Life: A No Fad, Non-Nonsense Approach to Eating Well and Reaching (Paperback)
I've owned this book for over 5 years now. Bought it when I was pregnant with my daughter. It is useful, simply written, colorful and inspiring. This book contributed to my career choice, as I am a dietetics major right now. Although, as some reviewers have mentioned, it does contain some disproven information on having to combine different plant products for complete protein, the pluses still outweigh the minuses of this book. And it still has to be proven that it is bad to eat yogurt and sour cream (low-fat or fat-free, as the book recommends). Different nutrition experts advise on sometimes opposite food choices for us (Dr. Neal Barnard says no cholesterol at all, go vegan; Dr. Daniel Amen says people with no cholesterol in their diet have shown to be depressed and have thoughts of homicide and suicide, so some cholesterol is essential). Therefore, this book is a safe reference for you, at any time in your life.

As a nutrition major, I recommend this book! Most weight loss/health books today are all about dropping pounds, and not about being healthy. This offers a different view, and shows you how to eat for different stages in life (toddler, teen, adult, etc.) and for different illnesses. Very useful, accurate, and a must have for anyone interested in being healthy not just losing weight!

Clear, well organized. I had taken this book out on library loan and decided it was well worth money spent.
