Voice of experience,
This review is from: Nutrition Periodization for Endurance Athletes: Taking Traditional Sports Nutrition to the Next Level (Paperback)
Bob Seebohar is an experienced professional who not only teaches optimal health, but lives it every day. His reasoned and balanced instruction reflects both his work with the top athletes in the country as well as his personal passion for achieving the best state of fitness possible. I found the information in this book highly relevant even as a wanna-be athlete who only competes with the treadmill. Learning more about food and supplements has helped me fuel my workouts and maintain my weight--important goals for anyone!

Bob's book helps the serious athlete -- professional or age grouper -- link his or her training plan to one's diet in a way not explained until now. Seebohar describes how to build a nutrition plan that will support the training periodization programs that most endurance coaches advocate today. He explains how to adjust caloric intake based on your own metabolic efficiency. More importantly, he shows how to shift the balance of carbs, fat, and protein in one's diet to support the varying strength, aerobic, and anaerobic goals over the course of a typical training plan. This is not a recipe book. Expect to start thinking of your meals in terms of grams and food group percentiles.

I have many years of near-obsessive reading behind me in sports nutrition and dietary theory, and this book just didn't do it for me. Some of the info is outdated and not in line with current research, and all in all, its just not a book for those who are looking for new and detailed nutrition guidelines.
I cannot evaluate this as a 'regular' athlete interested in nutrition - it may very well be a great book for most people.
