About the Author

Joan Salge Blake (MS, RD, LDN) is a clinical assistant professor and dietetics internship director at Boston University's Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.  She is a member of the American Dietetic association and the Massachusetts Dietetic Association (MDA), has been a presenter and presiding officer at both the ADA Annual Meeting and the MDA Annual Convention, and has been named MDA's "Young Dietitian of the Year."  She is a recipient of the Whitney Powers Excellence in Teaching Award from Boston University.  In addition to teaching and writing, Joan has a private practice specializing in weight management and lifestyle.  She is a member of the ABC News Medical Expert Network and a contributor of articles to a variety of magazines.

Joan Salge Blake is Clinical Associate Professor at Boston University and an author of Nutrition & You: Core Concepts to Good Health, 2010, Nutrition: From Science to You (2010), Nutrition & You (2008), and Eat Right The E.A.S.Y. Way (1991). She is currently working on another book to be published early next year. Her hope is that these books change the lives of those who read them.

Joan is member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) and the Massachusetts Dietetic Association (MDA). She was previously named MDA's "Young Dietitian of the Year" and is a MDA board member. She was awarded the 2001 Whitney Powers Excellence in Teaching Award from BU, a 2007 Outstanding Dietetic Educator (ADA), and the 2009 Outstanding Dietitian (MDA).

She is currently an ADA Media Spokesperson and has appeared on CBS-The Early Show, CNN, Pure Oxygen, NBC News (Boston), CBS News (New York), Fox25 TV (Boston), Chronicle, NPR and other television and radio talk shows. Her nutrition segments appear regularly on Fox25 TV Boston. I purchased this book for a class I started a week ago. The school wanted $156 for this book and I found it here for only $0.50. Yes, I couldn't believe the price of the book when I first see it, I had to double check it because I couldn't believe my eyes. I just received my book today; rapid service. This book is in excellent condition. There are no visible marks or rips on the book. It practically looked like I just walked in the bookstore and purchased it. Missing a few of the studies/graphs from the newer edition and some of the page numbers are inconsistent between the two versions but overall I was able to find all the info I needed and managed to pass my nutrition class that required this book with a B+, so I guess it worked well enough!

Book has some helpful hints but just like any other book information is out dated. However the best part of the book is in the back shows you a table of calories for each product of foods per serving which is nice. Other than that I look for a more current book if possible.

This was the required text book for a class i took, so i can't say much about the book itself... I tried to find the least expensive one listed. it's condition was listed as "good"- after i opened it up the first chapter of the book fell out. I guess "good" means that the pages are all there...just not all glued in place.
I plan on either reselling or just throwing it away at semesters end.
