From the Publisher

Ever since its initial publication in 1987, Nutritional Influences on Illness has received numerous accolades for its unique organization which makes it possible for readers to quickly become familiar with the scientific literature relating diet and nutritional supplements to the development and course of illness. (If you are interested in mental disorders, you will also wish to purchase its companion volume, Nutritional Influences on Mental Illness.)

The book is written in the language of the health practitioner, but is quite understandable to most non-medical readers.

This is a book for anyone wanting to know how diet and nutrients can affect the development and progress of most physical illnesses. You will find yourself referring to it often. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightfully informative and resourceful, April 30, 1998
This review is from: Nutritional Influences on Illness: A Sourcebook of Clinical Research (Paperback)
With so many people today taking a variety of supplements, this book is an indespensable reference. Has cut my research time considerably. Part 1, Illnesses and the effects of nutrients, is a brief summary of the scientific evidence of a particular supplement. It has chapters on Common Nutritional Deficiencies, Dangers of Nutritional Supplementation, Laboratory Methods for Nutritional Evaluation, Syndromes Due to Abnormal Tissue Nutrient Levels, Nutrient Bioavailability and Interactions. This is a must buy book for anyone that is involved in prevention of diseases.

This review is from: Nutritional Influences on Illness: A Sourcebook of Clinical Research (Paperback)
I have had the good fortune to be in possession of the first and second editions of this valuable infiormation on the necessry part nutrition plays in good health and good fortune. As an RN of days gone by I was happy to share this information with every health care professional I contacted. Werbach opened the door which brought REAL attention to the importance of GOOD NUTRITION. Thank you for asking....

Sincerely, Roberta M Thorpe

The book is like cliff notes, and if you do not know everything then you have to find the referenced items. I am not a doc and would prefer to have things written out for me. The info was good, but I had to dig a lot further for it.
