Nutritional Leverage for Great Golf, released by ATN publishing, is the first in-depth book to guide players through well researched nutritional information that if followed, can improve their game and help them gain wellness. Nutrition, long recognized as the backbone of results-oriented performance sports, is beginning to gather golfing converts. Many of the professionals both young and old find that the wear and tear of extensive play, plus the added strain of physical ailments associated with aging and illness, creates the diet re-evaluation. These are facts that affect many players, both men and women, not just the pros.

Nutritional Leverage for Great Golf is an easy-to-read paperback, addressing all golfers regardless of ability or age, with recommendations to sharpen their game. And if, they never buy any other book on nutrition, this 152 page, take-anywhere read, is an essential primer that can clarify names and terms heard from the media, or from sources that aroused their curiosity.

Nutritional Leverage for Great Golf highlights many specific areas of interest for readers. One example covers foods, herbs and supplements that boost the ability to concentrate; very helpful indeed for attempting to sink a 20 foot putt for par. Also included are detailed chapters that target relief of ones ailments, such as backache, headaches, joint and muscle aches. The book is designed with easy to follow plans, tables and rescues, plus attainable recommendations written in a program format, by Neil Orenstein, Ph.D., Nutritional Biochemist.

The authors Nina Anderson, Cherie Tripp and Dr. Howard Peiper explain how their smart food choices work, to enhance stamina, improve concentration, and control temper; factors that basically determine the day's game outcome. Following that belief are individuals like Dr. Deborah Graham, Ph.D., a Sports Psychologist for PGA,Sr. PGA, LPGA and Nike Tour players who states, you need to become more aware of the effects foods and supplements have on managing emotional reactions. One example is the frequent pattern heard on the course; temper outbursts. Senior players, who may have limited their playing due to problems with arthritis, joint problems, vision and memory, will welcome some of the! suggestions to get them out the door. and at the starters area more often.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK on specific nutrients, poor overall plan, September 8, 2001

Eric J. (Detroit, Motor Golfin') - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nutritional Leverage for Great Golf (Paperback)
A nice touch to let me know what ginko is and what it does, but poor on the overall plan. I wanted something that would say "if you walk this much, weigh this much, eat this..." I got a few ideas, not much of a roadmap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Confusion ends about sports bars and sports drinks., August 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Nutritional Leverage for Great Golf (Paperback)
This book was extremely interesting. I found the graphs comparing the various sports drinks and sports bars on the market a great addition to the nutritional information. I have been confused as to which bar to eat when I play golf as to when I go to the gym for a short lifting workout. This book helped me choose. I also learned how important electrolytes are not only because I'm out in the sun a lot, but because I've been told they need to be replaced after my aerobic workouts. This book gave me the opportunity to find out the best electrolyte supplements and the best drinks. I thank the authors for including this clarifying information.

5.0 out of 5 stars All golfers A MUST READ!, November 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Nutritional Leverage for Great Golf (Paperback)
I starting working out by reading a book on fitness for golfers and found that my game and self-confidence improved! Now I have bought this book to supplement my energy level on the course and found that my game has been the best ever! For years golfers have neglected taking care of the inside, as well as the outside of their bodies, and this has come at a high price. With a sound nutritional program and a sound exercise program, I have become the golfer I always wanted to be, thanks a million!
