Book Description

The Nuts & Bolts Writer's Manual takes the beginning writer step by step from prewriting through publication. It also supplies an often needed review of the basics for the established writer. Its 100 pages of grammar and style is a handy reference for the often troubling problems faced by writers at all levels of expertise. PUBCOMMENTS "Have something worth marketing" is the admonition most frequently given to new writers wanting to sell what they've written. Here's a guide to help those writers polish their manuscripts and hone their ideas so they can realize more marketing success. And there's plenty here to help the selling writers who want to move their sales up to a higher income level. The way to do that is to improve the product. Follow The Nuts & Bolts Writer's Manual to do just that. - Dana K. Cassell, CNW Publishing, (Publisher of the first edition)

Editorial Reviews

Review

As the title implies Loma covers it all: . . . A good refresher course to see if you really have a handle on what it takes to make your writing work. Lots of subheads, samples, and examples lend to the readability of this book. -- Writers Information Network, Bainbridge Island, WA December 1991/January 1992

Even the introduction of this new book is full of tips for both the aspiring and the experienced writer. And so it goes on throughout its 300 pages, the bottom line being skillful writing. -- Canadian Writer's Journal Winter 1991-92

The Nuts & Bolts Writer's Manual by Loma Davies is recommended to those who are self-publishing . . . One of the best books on the subject matter to come our way. A really helpful and informative book, useful to anyone who seeks to write well and effectively. -- The NAIP Library, July/August 1991

From the Author

As a frequent speaker at writers conferences, I often teach a series on Writing Basics. After the conferences, attendees ask where to find the material I present. Since there was no book available with all the information in it, I wrote The Nuts & Bolts Writer's Manual to fill that void. It was a Writer's Digest Book Club Featured Alternate in October 1992.
