A Modern Twist to an Classic Tale,
By
This review is from: Nuttiest Nutcracker (DVD)
This is an adorable little movie. It is an updated version of "The Nutcracker", with assorted colorful characters and a Clara with 'Tude. I especially adored her; she was quite the scene stealer, if a cartoon character could possibly do that. Of course Phyllis Diller as the Fairy was a scream as well. It is a refreshing take on a classic fairy tale, and one that children can relate to. The computer-generated graphics are amazing.
This is fun family fare for the holidays. I recorded it on VHS when it played on Primetime TV, so I'm glad the DVD is out. Even adults will find it entertaining and amusing. (...).

My son LOVES this movie!,
By
This review is from: Nuttiest Nutcracker (DVD)
If this was a movie meant for me, I wouldn't be able to rate it very high. But my son has been watching it for over 2 years now. He doesn't just reserve it for the holidays, either. Every few months, he drags it out and watches it a bunch. In fact, it's mid-January now, and he's still watching it 2 or 3 times a day some days.
I really don't like it that much. It's certainly no "Nemo!" The music is a bit too gospel for me, and the story and animation are not spectacular. However, it has it's moments. The most important thing is that, out of all the Christmas movies we have, my son loves this one the best. His entertainment is the sole reason I bought the movie, so I have to give it two thumbs up. Besides, anything that brings my son so much joy has a special place in my heart. The following is my son's own review: "The nuts are funny, the Mouse King dances with one of his army men, and some little red fruits have gas and stink up the whole place and make their own men and a lot of black-eyed peas have to go to the hospital." And there you have it!

I'd just like to say that while I didn't think this movie rated very high, my daughter, who saw it the first time when she was 7 1/2 is crazy about this movie and since that who I bought it for, I am happy she likes it!

I saw the trailer for this movie on a rental and couldn't get it out of my mind. When I went to order it, I was pretty leery of purchasing it after reading the reviews. However, considering its cost and potential use in my daycare, I decided to give it a try. The kids LOVE it. This one is NOT for adults. Many of the children I care for love this movie so much their grandparents HAD to purchase it for them to keep in their homes! Do your kids a favor and try it. You have very little to lose!

What is it about this movie that we ,the American public, find so captivating? The answer is simple.....it's charm. Not since "White Christmas" has a holiday picture boasted this kind of understated elegance or such wholesome story. Could it be that the golden age of film has found a place in modern cinema? Let us hope so, as the beauty and clarity of "The Nuttiest Nutcracker" represents our last and best hope of reviving the innocence of our parents' generation. In a nutshell, this film is "soup for the soul" , a pleasant reminder of the frivolity of childhood.Let me take the time to thank both the amazing and talented animators who created this visual wonder, and the producers who boldly chose to take the unpopular and often difficult "moral highground". I don't know how you did it ......but I'm sure glad you did. I wait with baited breath and gleefull anticipation for the second installment of this would-be series. Hats off and high hearts to you unsung heros..........and Merry Christmas.

A twist of muppets and cartoons characters,

This review is from: Nuttiest Nutcracker [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie look interesting in it preview, however it did not hold my 3 year old attention. I thought he would like it because it was full of color and great singing. What really turn him off is that he did not like the interruption of the cartoon character mix with the muppets. He perfer just the muppets characters.

Wonderful, I am glad to see that a Christmas movie is finally putting the "Christ" back into Christmas. It is an inspirational story about young girl finding her faith told with dazzling, high-tech computer animation and special effects. God willing, I hope every child finds this treasure under the tree Christmas morning.

This movie stinks.,

The so-called computer animation is terrible at best and the story line makes absolutley no sense. It's quite obvious that any positive review mention online here were from the film makers.

This is the 3-D animated Christmas show that all 3-D animated Christmas shows will be compared to.This isn't just your typical light fanciful yarn, but a visceral journey into the very heart of what makes us all human.I laughed out loud,I cried(like a baby with a tooth ache)and I bit my finger nails to the quick, as this epic story of manequins, dancing rats, and gleeful fruit weaved their magic into my heart! A really good video will leave you thinking about it hours after you've seen it, with the Nutcracker I couldn't stop thinking of it for days...The haunting splendour of Uncle Drosslemeirers bedroom, or the evil coldness of the rats cheese mines have still not left my dreams. Not since the "One Day at a Time" Christmas special have I been so taken with a holliday show! This ranks right up there with some of the greats...The Barbara Feldon Xmas Hour, A Very Brady Christmas,The Good Times Christmas show (3rd season) and Claude Aikens Christmas Time in New Mexico.
