5.0 out of 5 stars .... The best sountrack of the year 2000

3.0 out of 5 stars Nutty, Nutty, Nutty
This is one of the best soundracks of the years. If you like R&B/Soul and Hop Hop, then you have to add this cd into your collection.

The R&B soul section of the cd is the best part, in my opinion. With songs such as Janet's "Doesn't Really Matter" and Montell Jordan's "Once Upon a Time (remix)" the soundtrack offers the most avid...

The year of the soundtrack continues with the best soundtrack I've heard in the year 2000, "The Nutty Professor 2" soundtrack. The format of songs from this soundtrack is the same approach that was used on the previous "Nutty Professor" soundtrack: An equal mixture of hip hop and r&b songs. Many Def Jam and Def Soul artists are featured on this soundtrack: DMX, Jay Z, Case, Method Man, Redman, Sisqo & Jazz of Dru Hill, and Foxy Brown. Out of the r&b songs, Case's "Missing You" is the clear winner. This is the best Case song I've heard in a while, comparable to "Faded Pictures". Janet's "Doesn't Really Matter" and Jazz of Dru Hill's "Here With Me" both come in a close 2nd and 3rd. Out of the hip hop songs, Jay Z's "Hey Papi" is the clear winner. Timbaland has another winner on his hands with this track. Jay Z also gets an assist from Memphis Bleek and Amil to make this the best song on the soundtrack, in my opinion. Another combination, that you might not have expected has The Funk Doc Redman and D-12's finest Eminem on a Erick Sermon produced track, "Off The Wall", which is an appropriate title. This song will have you wanting to here these two rappers on more tracks together in the future. For people who can't get enough of Sisqo and his "Thong Song", Def Jam has added a version w/Foxy Brown rapping on the same original track. Whether you're a r&b or a hip hop fan you should enjoy this latest soundtrack offering. It's definitely worth your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars How could you give this a bad review?, September 24, 2001
This review is from: Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (Clean Version) (Audio CD)
O.K., not to be rude, but there are people who are giving this album bad reviews because they cuss on it. Well, you know, give me a good rap/r&b album where they don't say anything bad. "Doesn't Really Matter" by Janet is a nice, poppy song that I like O.K. "Hey Papi" by Jay-Z feat Memphis Black is a really good rap song. "Let Me Be" by Eve shows why I think that Eve is the best woman rapper out there right now. "Get With Me" is a another pretty cool, poppy song by Shorty 101. For the hard core rap fans out there, Eminem and Redman team up on "Off the Wall"(funny lyrics). Method Man and DMX both come through with good efforts on songs too. Sisqo and Foxy Brown do a pretty good remix of Sisqo's hit "Thong Song". Last, for you r&b fans out there, Jazz of Dru Hill makes a good song with "Here With Me", along with the songs "Thinking 'Bout Me" by Brian McKnight and "Just a Touch" by R. Kelly. I've pretty much named almost every song on the album now, but that's how good it is. Bottom line is, BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant soundtrack laced with today's hottest artists., November 24, 2000
This review is from: Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (Clean Version) (Audio CD)
The Nutty Professor 2 soundtrack is by far the best soundtrack of the year. Ranging in styles from soft R&B from Brian McKnight and Case, to the catchy pop of Janet Jackson, to the tight rap verses of Method Man, DMX, Jay-Z, Red Man and Eminem.

Personally, my favorite track is number five, "Even If" by Method Man. The great beat combined with the mind blowing flow of Method Man is sure to please any rap fan.

I don't recommend buying the editied version of the CD. Censoring the lyrics (which are profane on a few of the tracks) takes away from the songand how it was meant to be heard. Take it as it is, and you'll get your money's worth.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is DEFINITELY THE BEST SDTK OF 2000!, July 27, 2000
By
This review is from: Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (Clean Version) (Audio CD)
This soundtrack is phenomenal! Not only does Janet shine with "Doesn't really matter", but the soundtrack gracefully mixes r&b and rap on one cd and it really works. Not only that but it introduces a few new artists with excellent songs. One of the best songs on the soundtrack is #9 "No you didn't say" by new artist Kandice Love. While the entire sdtk is great, the standouts are #1,3,4,5,8,9,11,14,& 15. Get this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Come for Janetstay for some hot Hip-hop and R&B, July 18, 2000
This review is from: Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (Clean Version) (Audio CD)
I pretty much know for a fact that most of the buyers of this album are going to be hard-core Janet fans that need to have the soundtrack that has her latest funky hit "Doesn't Really Matter" just in case it doesn't get a proper single release. In all likelihood, it won't due to the fact that the album is Def Jam Soul and Janet Jackson is currently on Virgin. The song is essential Janet, touching on smooth Urban grooves with a touch of club music. Even a few cute Janet like quips make the song very special.

As for the rest of the disc, I'm impressed that modern R&B sounds so good. While R. Kelly's guitar laced ballad is at the end, you just feel its heat all over. It's a steamy honest ballad you'll find in "Lost My Touch". Other R&B men are the talented pop oriented singer-songwriter Brain Mcknight with a classy piano number "Thinkin' About Me" not to mention youngster like "Case" and "Musiq". A few urban, funky divas like Shoetree 101 with their TLC like track and Candice Love with a mellow track are good. The hip-hop artists are hot. Eve's smart grooves added with sexy background and great rhymes make "Let Me Be" is exceptional. DMX is in top from with master production and those stellar words as always. The highlight on that front is Jay Z joined with Amil and Memphis Bleek and those great dance beats that make everyone get up with "Hey Papi". The master is in top form.

I'm actually not much of a fan of modern R&B or even rap but this set as a ton of great tracks to offer. The only thing that is mind boggling is the LL Cool J preview of "G.O.A.T". I understand why it's there, but why not just play the first single. I'm pretty much turned off on buying the album after that mix. I think you'll love the set if you're into this music already, but if you're just into Janet get it anyway because it will probably grow on you. While it's hardly the best album I have, it's very good and it's much more than four stars so I think I'll just give it five. Great songs for what I hope will be a great movie.

the clear standout on this cd is Janet's Doesn't Really Matter. After Poetic Justice, this is a very nice follow-up soundtrack. All together an excellent CD go out and buy it now.

4.0 out of 5 stars the best soundtrack of the year ......... so far, July 11, 2000

This review is from: Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (Clean Version) (Audio CD)
This entire cd is well worth the money. It provides a good mix of hardcore rap and r&b music. It is an ideal cd for anyone who likes any of the artists featured on the cd. the first track by Janet is obviously the best one, but the Eminem track is also a close contender. Overall a brilliant CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars IT'S THE "NO NAMES" THAT SHINE ON THIS ONE..., July 17, 2000
This review is from: Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (Clean Version) (Audio CD)
The CD was surprising for me, because I got let down by the so-called "sure things", and impressed by the "no names". Let me spotlight the standout tracks:

'Doesn't Really Matter' by Janet Jackson - It's a happier, exciting Janet, recovered from the introspective Velvet Rope era.

'Just Friends' by Musiq (NO NAME #1). This is for the neo-soul types, like Eric Benet, Rashaan Paterson, Donnell Jones...just smooth yet funky, but always jazzy. Reminds me of 'The Sweetest Thing' by Lauryn Hill.

'Missing You' by Case - THE JAM. If you liked Mary J Blige's 'Everything' from 1997's "Share My World", you will FEEL this similar slow jam. Nice...especially since Case isn't really a headliner yet..but this is NICE...

'No You Didn't Say' by Kandice Love (NO NAME #2) - THE JAM. It sounds like an EXCELLENT Brandy (a la "Never Say Never") ballad, and it was written by David Guppy (remember The Redhead Kingpin and The FBI "Pump It Hottie" from the New Jack Swing Era with Guy in 1989?) This is probably my favorite song on the album.

'Get With Me' by Shorty 101 (NO NAME #3) - this monster track was produced by Rodney Jerkins (as in, the guy who's doing Michael Jackson's upcoming album) and the song is hot! He's actually mimicked that bright, guitar smash sound that Max Martin (Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys) uses to sell records. In the May 2000 issue of Vibe magazine (Home Brew - Amy Linden), Max Martin disses Rodney Jerkins - well, it seems that the "Darkchild" has anwered Mr. Martin's challenge, and done well.

'Do You Remember' by Montell Jordan - it seems Montell is getting better. It sounds like an R.Kelly song from the "R" album back in 1998. Don't sleep on this one...It's a sequel remix to 'Once Upon A Time' from his latest album, "Get It On Tonite"

'Off The Wall' by Eminem & Redman - this is the best hip hop track on here...bursting at the seams with the charisma of both of these hip hop super-characters!

'Just A Touch' by R. Kelly - this jam is dope. It's official...R. Kelly is a musical genius. I just love R. Kelly on GP. (General Principle - his track record is amazing)

And...the LL Cool J preview is hot to death! The sales for LL's album will go through the roof and are well deserved. It seems there are going to be MAD CLUB ANTHEMS for 2000-2001 from Uncle L, the self proclaimed G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time)...he just may be...

Yep...I didn't mention Jay-Z, DMX, Eve, Brian McKnight, Jazz...the list goes on. They were alright, but nothing earth shattering. But hey - the new cuts, especially 'No You Didn't Say' by Kandice Love DEFINITELY worth your money. You won't be dissapointed. Don't miss out!

Knyte (Trust Me)

I lied....there is 1 more PHAT track on this album. Shorty 101's "Get With Me". I listen to it over and over again. The beat sorta sounds like a song from *N Sync or Britney Spears...but it's really tight. Overall, the album is awesome. Check it out! (Literally) :)
