What goes into making a hit record? I think first and foremost, passion and desire. Then a strong, well thought out strategy for exceptional songs, vibrant talent, and mad production skills. If one of these ingredients is weak, then the recipe is only as strong as that weakness. The new self-titled debut from Nyee ("nigh-ee") Moses is an example of what a hit record sounds like when all of the elements are in place. Let's look at Team Nyee... producers/co-writers Marquis "Hami" Dair and Susan Youngblood complete the triad with Nyee Moses as a dynamic threesome that has a knack for song writing and evocative programming and production. Up front and center, the beautiful Ms. Moses... a cool chanteuse who weaves in seductive, soulful vocal textures of nu-jazz, urban groove, and chilled Smooth Jazz. Her rich, deep and sophisticated subtle vocal meanderings bring to mind Sade and Tracy Thorn (Everything But The Girl). NYEE MOSES is a hit record... I'm not alone in this opinion. R&R's Carol Archer finds Nyee's voice intriguing and hard to shake while the Groove Boutique's Rafe Gomez calls the project a refreshing audio journey. Special guest voices and musicians take this musical outing over the top: Otmaro Ruiz, Rene Toledo, Talaya Trigueros, and Hubert Laws among others. Favorite tracks for me include the smooth radio single, "Between Us," the loungeliscious "Vanilla," which is as exotic as the syrup of Madagascar, and the sensual, trip hop "Stay." I fell in love with this artist when she came out with her first single "Between Us". I was like, wow, what a sultry voice and an amazing talent. Sometimes artists come out with that first hit, and you think, "OK, how's the rest of the album?" I was impressed with everything she did. Her collaberation is incredible. I see the same longevity as Sade.

Nyee Moses, a newcomer into the NeoSoul/Smooth Jazz arena, has created a wonderful CD that I wish would get more airplay these days. The song "Between Us" has made a lot of noise on the radio (although I only hear it on the Smooth Jazz stations), as well as it should. But there are so many others on the CD (like No Limits and Vanilla) that are destined to be hits. It's been a hard to find in the Chicagoland area, so give Amazon your money on this one!!!

This CD is awesome, it is just lovely, a must have for anyone that loves laid back, soft, sexy music.

A very very good CD album like SADE and unusual soul sounds. A very great and pleasant CD You must buy.

It's more than a shame--it's a CRIME--that this astounding, earth-shaking talent isn't the hottest thing in jazz, or anywhere else. The vocals, the beat, the lyrics, the themes of love and romance...Man. I first heard "Between Us" on XMS and was blown away. I sampled the rest of the album on itunes, & that song was not a fluke. The rest of the tracks are just as rich. I don't often review on Amazon, but this rates as an exception. If you like music, you'll love this CD.

I thought i would go on ahead and wright a review for this product i don't write reviews on all the products i buy on amazon i dont regrat buying this album i will just say i agree with [...] if you listen to the music sampels she sounds like sade but hope the best for this ladies career. i recomened

Nyee has a velvety voice that is reminiscent of Sade. This CD is unique with a little something for everyone. The first song, Between Us has that smooth Latin sound with lots of rhythm that is balanced by Nyee's silky voice. Under the Sun has a Middle Eastern flair, Summer Time is edgy with a twist of hip-hop, and Love is Lion is smooth silky jazz. Listen for yourself.

This cd is the bomb. If you're into Latin music, buy this cd. You'll dance, and dance, and dance. Maria
