I have found this book to be quite enjoyable on many levels. It is a rare gem, in that it is difficult to find any kind of good literature in Gullah. Also, there are English translations of the Gullah text throughout the book, which are very helpful at times. Finally, as a lover of languages, I would recommend this book to others who want a glimpse into the Gullah language and culture. It is a great resource.

I have purchased two copies, one for a friend and one for myself. This BIBLE is a great book and my friend is thrilled to have her copy. Growing up in Charleston,SC next to a "sea island", I have witnessed this language first hand. There are some people here in Charleston and other places that are trying to document and keep the Gullah language alive. I support their efforts and if purchasing this BIBLE helps in their cause, then a copy should be in every christian's home !!! Sometimes less is more and the Gullah language in this BIBLE is simple, direct, and beautiful. I will be buying several additional copies to give as gifts soon.

There is something familiar, comfortable, authentic, and sincere about the use of the Gullah language to share "De Good Nyews Bout Jedus Christ". I felt almost as if I were a small child, thoroughly captivated and spellbound as an elder from my very own family told me stories about the life of Christ. It is an awesome experience and this book, simply put, is a treasure!

By the way, for the benefit of those who may need a little time to get used to this language, the King James (Authorized) Version has been printed in the margins, which corresponds with the Gullah text.

Get this bible for yourself and one for a friend. Let it draw you nearer to God's Word in a language you will love!

I helped my daughter with a research project about our ancestors who were slaves on the Gullah Islands and learned about this Bible. I fell in love with the history, the culture and the language. It is easier than you think to catch on. I started with passages that I know by heart. It reads in the form of Griot storytelling. I think you will enjoy it.

used famous verses in a translation style game w/ various youth/age groups and they ALL loved it. definitely a good investment.

I had heard of this bible and saw a copy at my Aunt Betty's. I was delighted to know I could order it from Amazon for my mother. We have had a good time reading it together. I recommend this for bible scholars or anyone who studies other cultures. NLM

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT. BECAUSE I ALREADY SPEAK PATOIS, I COULD IMMEDIATELY CONNECT WITH THE GULLAH LANGUAGE WHICH IS SO SIMILIAR. THE NEW TESTAMENT WRITTEN IN THE GULLAH LANGUAGE SPEAKS TO MY CORE/HEART. I NEVER HAD SO MUCH FUN--LAUGHING OUT LOUD WITH PURE JOY--READING ANY BIBLE. WHAT A GREAT WAY TO RELATE TO THE BIBLE. YES. YES. AND YES.

This book is amazing in capturing the Gullan language and making the transition for the English language to The Gullah language. I am awaiting the Gullah translation for the Old Testament.

I purchased my first copy of De Nyew Testament for a friend who was raised in the Gullah Community. She was overwhelmed with emotion, saying it brought back so many childhood memories, and she couldn't stop reading it. The second copy I purchased was for my own library. I find the Gullah language delightful and their history enchanting.

bought this gullah new testament for my brother the missionary. i live in s.c. and have learned a little about the gullah culture (mostly that they make wonderful sweeet grass baskets and good food). however the deal on amazon was half the price of the gullah n.t.'s here.
