5.0 out of 5 stars This cable is the only way to go in your car.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work
Didn't work with my 5th gen. ipod Nano. Got another cable that attached where the headphones attach and that works great.

I have been searching for a good way to hook up my iPod to my car stereo and after looking at different ways (Griffin iTrip, Monster iCar FM transmitter, even the hundred dollar iPod car kits that allow you to control your iPod from your car stereo) direct cableing, such as the Nyko Stereo Link, was the best route.

I've tried FM transmitters and they sound awful in my opinion. It's clear but with a muffled sound. I've even read a lot about the iPod car kits that let you control your iPod from your car stereo. (I have a Kenwood, they make them for Pioneer and Alpine as well.) A great percentage of reviewers say that those iPod car adaptors do not let you control the iPod from the deck very well.

If you have an Auxiliary input on your car stereo, get this cable! It plugs into the dock connector of the iPod which is where the in-line circuitry is located. That is pure digital sound! No more messing with the volume on the iPod. Just use the volume on the car stereo! I snaked my cable through the center console of my 97 accord so I could hide the iPod while i'm using it.

Pros:

Sound quality is excellent

Long 6 foot cable

White to match the iPod (most of them)

Heavy duty gold plated conector

No need to control the volume from your iPod

Very affordable

Cons:

Doesn't charge the iPod

5.0 out of 5 stars Well made and cost effective solution..., August 5, 2007

What do you say about a wire? It is very well made, with quality connectors on each end, white in color to match the iPod motif, and it works. The wire is reinforced at the connector ends to guard against premature wear. I use my iPod not so much as a portable player but as the 'mother of all remote controls,' attaching it by this cable to my stereo and dialing in my tunes from the comfort of my easy chair. If you tend to use the iPod as I do, this cable is a very cost-effective solution. There are other solutions out there. I tried one by Kensington that included a dock for line-out transfer and recharging, which included a remote control. I now use it only to charge the iPod, because the output was noisy and deeply attenuated. All that remote-control infrared stuff was the culprit, introducing noise into the signal. Besides, the idea was dumb. Using a remote control to control the player from across the room means you can't see what you're selecting so you have to walk up close to the player which defeats the purpose of the remote control. This simple wire brings the iPod close to you, connects it without hassle to your stereo, and gets the job done, elegantly and well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Product at an Awesome Price, September 27, 2005
This review is from: Nyko Stereo Link for iPod (Electronics)
This cable is without a doubt the best way to hook up an iPod to a stereo system. We use it to connect the iPod to our poat stereo and the sound is 100% perfect! Hooking up to a stereo via the headphone jack is like a -1000 on a scale of 1-10 compared to this cable. We plan on buying another one to use to hook up to the house stereo. The only grief is the lack of the ability to power the iPod while hooked up. But, the battery lasts forever on the iPod and it has not been an issue yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, a must have, June 3, 2006

I have a great stereo at home, and did not won't to drop down a couple hundred dollars for a system that could just play my ipod. First I bought a tape adapter. This was a horrible mistake and I would not recommend it to anyone who wants a good quality performance. Needless to say, the tape adapter is rotting in my car's glove compartment. This connector connects straight from your ipod's dock to your stereo's auxiliary line. Since the cord attaches to the ipod's dock rather than the headphone jack, the cord only takes best sound possible, and the click wheel's volume has no control. The sound that comes out is near CD quality. The set up could not be easier, and the only improvement I would make on this connector is to add on a separate cord in order to charge your ipod while listening to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cable, April 12, 2006

This is a great cable for your iPod. The quality is excellent, and it comes in a tube container that is pretty cool for geezers like me. I wasn't blown away by the improvement in audio quality reported by other users. It is better, and I think uses less battery. Still worth it. It is also a great option for people who use skins or cases on their ipods and can't use a dock.

Please please some manufacturer make a cable like this with the power inputs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very satisifed with product, November 2, 2007
This review is from: Nyko Stereo Link for iPod (Electronics)
This product performed just as it said it would. I had tried the headphone jack to stereo connection with poor results. This product is a little softer volume than CD, but when turned up a little extra the quality of sound is as good as my old stereo seems to pump out these days. The product works without surprises, as it said it would, so thumbs up from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Performs spectacularly, June 4, 2006

One of the few RCA adaptors I found that uses the dock plug instead of the headphone plug. I believe this removes the volume restriction and so forth, and makes a cleaner output requiring you to jack up the volume less.

Well constructed. Works with PXNI well for those who have Nissans.

1.0 out of 5 stars didn't work for me, March 15, 2010

This review is from: Nyko Stereo Link for iPod (Electronics)
I have a RCA plug to earphone jack that I was using on a iPod Nano, figuring that a "stereo link" would offer better sound quality.

First off, I have the latest Nano (5th gen). The link would allow RCA to iPod dock.

After reading the reviews & a bit of research lead me to 'Nyko Stereo Link for iPod'. It seemed well constructed & the reviews seemed favorable.

After I received the link; within a week, I tried it on my Sansui 9090 db, a 30 year old receiver, it didn't work. I thought it might be because of my receiver & the age so I went to a neighbor with a newer receiver & got the same result. I then went to 'Best Buy', trying it on their units; still nothing.

I exchanged the email with Amazon & got an email back saying my credit card charges would be reversed so I'm not charged for the item. I still have the original packaging if they want me to send it back? But the unit might not be worth the trouble in that it wasn't that high of a price; I think around $10.00.

Thank you Amazon

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Delivers Great Sound, May 6, 2007

I was looking for a way to connect my iPod with my home stereo. This is fantastic. It works just as promised and with an available RCA input on the tuner, I have an easily attached cord to connect the iPod and play music throughout our home. If you don't have an open RCA input you can easily get a "piggy-back" adapter from RadioShack so two devices can use the same RCA input. I highly recommend this item.
