Great product!,
This review is from: Nyko Wireless Net Extender - Wireless bridge - Ethernet, HomeRF (Electronics)
I wanted to connect my Xbox to the internet. The problem however, was that it was in a different room than my PC, and I didn't have the money to start a wireless network. So, I was very excited to see this product come out! But it seemed to good to be true... There must be a catch, right? Wrong!I got it, and am very pleased with it. All I did was plug it in, and then I had instant internet access. I've had no trouble at all so far. The speed may not be the fastest available, but it's fast enough for me. There's almost no lag in games, and downloads usually don't take too long either. This is truly a great piece of hardware, and I would easily recommend it to anyone who wants to connect a device with ethernet ports, without wires, and without spending $100's. I must applaud Nyko.

Didn't deliver the goods,

I had such high hopes for the NYKO net extender. Here's the situation I have a computer downstairs and a Playstation 2 upstairs, I just recently purchased the network adapter for the playstation 2 which allows you to play games online with the PS2... now here's the problem drilling holes and running patch cable all thru the house wasn't a option for me. I saw the NYKO net extender advertised so I figured this was the answer to my problem. I ran out and bought it when it came out. Now I must say it was a snap to install 2 little black boxes (one the sender **which plugs in the cable modem** the other the receiver ** which in my case went to the PS2 ) and SHAZAMM it works no setup disks or hassles BUT all is not perfect with this product. Right after I got everything hooked up and fired up SOCOM II on the PS2 I noticed for no reason at all the unit would stop receiving data right in the middle of playing games online you literally have to unplug the receiver unit and plug it back in within 10 seconds to maintain a connection this wouldn't happen just every once in a while (I could deal with that) sometimes it would do this 3 and 4 times a hour very frustrating to say the least. I figured it was the placement of the units so I moved them as close as I could that didn't help I spoke to the clerk from the store from which I purchased it from he said it could be interference with other appliances in the house (I.E. cordless phone, micowave etc) so picture this I unplugged every appliance in the house * I mean every one imagine me sitting the with just a TV and my PS2 on but to no avail the same thing happened. I even took it back and got another one from the store same problem. I even got a hold of someone at NYKO tech support VIA e-mail and he told me something about the bandwidth may be dropping to low to hold a connection I have a Cable modem so that isn't the problem. Anyway to wrap this up the Net extender looked like a good product on paper but for me it failed to deliver its promise ... I eventually went with a LINKSYS wireless router and the WET 11 Ethernet bridge and it works like a dream.

useful but limiting,

This product is great, my computer and room are about 50-75ft from each other and the connection speed is wonderful. There are a few problems: the wireless extender stops transmitting data and you have to go uplug the remote unit and plug it back in within about 8 seconds or the connection will be lost. Also when you switch it from computer to game and back i have been having some troubles. this product is great but nyko could have spent more time working out the kinks.
