Nylabone Cozytime Pet Home and Carrier

I purchased this product to use as a pet carrier. It is lovely to look at and certainly works fine if you intend to use it as a stationary pet "home." However, given its breadth and rounded top, I can't carry it comfortably and [more important] in a stable position. If you plan to purchase a carrier [particularly if needed on a frequent basis], I suggest you look for something else.
9/5/10 follow-up to review of 8/19/10: Downgrading rating to 1 star. As I picked up carrier with 10 pound cat inside, carrier separated from handle and fell about 2 feet to floor. I reiterate that this product is fine as a cat home, but I definitely do not recommend its use as a carrier.

We were looking for something that would give our medium- and larger- sized cats a comfortable "ride" for a long-distance car trip (see photo). The Cozy Time pet carrier was great. It was easy to put together and take down, provided easy access to the kitties and gave them plenty of room to stretch out, sit up, and in the case of one (the trouble maker on the left), perform gymnastics. We got one to try it out and ended up getting a second one because we were so happy with it. When not in use, it folds to a fairly compact size (see photo) for easy storage.

That said, once one side of the handle did come off when I bumped into something while carrying our active troublemaker, but the other held fast. I was easily able to snap it back into place, and it was as good as new. It would be nice if the manufacturer would extend the handle peg/insert so that wouldn't happen.

Nylabone does not make a crate pad for this, and it is pretty much impossible to find one that fits exactly; however, the extra small (15" x 20") Dog Gone Smart Rectangle Crate Pad fits nicely. I know some people have some issues with the carrier, but for us, it was just right. I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend of mine.

I love that I can put my cats in from the top or the front. It is also great because we have 4 cats but only need 2 cages. I have an older version, and I can honestly say I like it better than the newer one in some respects. Yet the newer one works just as well and has some points that I like better than the old one. Being able to fold it flat and just tuck it away is awesome! Love it!

I bought this item from Target for my 20 pound Lhasa Apso. It wasn't big enough and the gate type door has some very sharp metal edges! Her hair ( I keep it about 2 inches long) got caught on it and I snagged my sweater on it. Also, it's collapsible and when it was open if you push down on the top it starts to collapse on itself. It also doesn't have much ventilation, the little puppy paw cut outs are cute but small. I do not recommend this item. Get a regular crate.

I love this crate. The top is clear & opens, so your pet can look out the top and you can put them in the top if they won't go in the front. It has cute paw print design that allows for more peeks at the outside world.

It is the only crate that my cat doesn't cry in when I have to take her to the vet. Also use for my pug and chihuahua's whom all seem to like it just fine. It collapses too.

My only gripe is that if the crate is tipped to the side with the door open, the front wire door slides out of the holes and the door falls off; it isn't too hard to put it back though. No worries; it holds secure, your pet is not getting out of it.

We are loving this Cozy Time Pet Home. Our Shima (part Shih Tzu and part Maltese) 3-month old puppy was pretty much crate-trained when we got her. All we had was a soft airline carrier and it was a bit small for her to move around. This gives her plenty of room for her blanket and a few toys. When she is tired, it is her bedroom! We had the old Nylabone crate and we loved it too, but it isn't available anymore. We weren't disappointed in the new one.

We purchase this crate based on the larger Nylabone crates we purchased locally at PetsMart several years ago for our two Carin Terriers. Our local PetsMart did not carry the Nylabone anymore.

This product is quite a bit smaller, but okay for our new West Highland White Terrier adoptee (she is a petite 11.5 pounds). The reason for the four stars is the convex roof does not allow the crate to fold flat - like the older "square" versions.

I owned the old type of nylabone carrier, and it was the best I had ever owned. So when it came time to buy a new carrier, I went to the internet to find another great carrier. I couldn't find a nylabone carrier anywhere, and I purchased one from a petstore, which lasted for about two years. When I found out nylabone had made another carrier, I was exstatic. These nylabone's are made to last. Though this new one isn't as large as the original, and the clips on top aren't as well made, this carrier is defenitely worth every penny. Completely folds down, two ways to put your pets in the carrier, and the quality of nylabone made this an easy purchase.

This crate is a perfect size for a small dog - up to 20 pounds. It is lightweight, provides a cozy feeling for the dog, and opens from both the side and the top. My biggest criticism is that the front door only opens in one direction. The two former Nylabone Crate models were great because the front crate door could open in either direction. Also, on the older models, the door was easily removed and easily reattached. On this new model, the door only opens in one direction and is tricky to take off and put back on. This 'Cozytime' revision of the original Nylabone crate is not really an improvement. I don't understand why the manufacturer doesn't go back to one of the two older Nylabone designs. Those crates are currently selling for 'big bucks' when you can find them because they were so well made and so convenient to use. At any rate, I would still choose this crate over many of the 'regular' crates on the market. This crate is nice looking, easy to carry because it is lightweight, has two doors - a front door and a top door, and folds flat for storage.

I bought it so I would have a carrier for my youngest cat, he loves it so much, it has become his home. He sleeps in it every night. Nicely constructed, I live in an apartment so the ability to fold it up to put it away is a plus in itself.
