Nylabone’s products promote good canine dental hygiene, enhance overall mental fitness, redirect destructive chewing and other problem behaviors, and generally encourage a positive pet–parent relationship.

What Nuisance Behaviors Do Pet Parents Face?

Dogs are gregarious, rambunctious, and lots of fun. Your dog’s boundless enthusiasm is part of what makes being around him so enjoyable. But dogs can get carried away, and there are many situations where you want your dog to take a breather, either from what he’s doing or from what you’re doing:

  • Attention seeking. When your dog is demanding your company, you’re not always ready to play with him. But while you were at work, he was home alone, and now that you’re back, you don’t want to leave him hanging.
  • Dinnertime. Whether they’re sniffing, begging, or wiggling through your feet, dogs get up close and personal during dinner. When you’re taking the roast out of the oven or sitting down for a feast, your dog’s going to be there.
  • Greeting guests. When your friends come over, nobody’s more excited to see them than your 60-pound Golden Retriever. But when he jumps on them at the door, they may be grabbing for the nearest piece of stable furniture before they can return the greeting. Even smaller dogs can jump up with massive enthusiasm, and the craziness can last for a while before everything calms down.
  • Phobias. Some dogs are afraid of thunderstorms, meeting strangers, and other common situations. These phobias may provoke anxious behavior, including cowering, barking, and all manner of other unpleasant responses.
  • Watchdog duties. Who’s that at the door? When your dog doesn’t know, he may feel compelled to protect your family with numerous barks, passionately defending your homestead against the friendly delivery man. Dogs are masters of persistence, and though some may calm down after confirming that everything’s okay, others feel that it’s better to bark until the coast is clear altogether.

Nylabone Chews Better!

Nylabone offers many occupying solutions for day-to-day life with your dog. While nothing replaces your love and companionship, there are many moments where you want to give your dog a short break from the commotion. Nylabone occupying edible chews allow your dog to have a snack while helping prevent undesirable behavior.

When distracting your dog, timing is everything. Giving your dog an edible chew while he’s barking, begging, or jumping up may encourage him to repeat these behaviors. However, anticipating problem behaviors and giving your dog a chew before he gets carried away can help him coast through previously challenging situations with ease. Giving your dog occupying edible chews can also help him form positive associations with thunderstorms, strangers, and other common situations.

Nylabone offers the following occupying solutions to keep your dog happily engaged:

-Healthy Edibles occupying edible chews

-Natural Nubz occupying edible chews

-NylaCone refillable treat toys

Let me start by describing who these chews were for: I have a 13 week old, 20 pound female Rottweiler who is playful and a chewer! (As most puppies are)

The hard puppy Nylabone wasn't holding her interest, probably because she couldn't make much progress on it so I decided to try something that she could actually put a dent in, and eat it while she was at it. I will admit that when I purchased these, I didn't realize that the description said "Petite", but I figured "Hey, my puppy is still a puppy, it will be fine". While they were 'fine' in the sense that she enjoyed it and didn't make her sick, it didn't achieve my goal in keeping her occupied because they only lasted a few short minutes. I have found that the Nylabone regular flexible puppy bone works well for her right now Nylabone Puppybone Teething Chew Toy, Regular but I am still looking for an edible puppy bone that last more then a few minutes. I just ordered the non-petite version and we will see how those stand up. I will update when we test those out!

2/19/2013 Update:
Okay so I just tried out the "Regular" size Healthy Edibles and they did last longer then the petites. One bone kept my pup occupied for almost an hour. (She took a little break about half way into it) :) Although she does seem to prefer the bacon flavor over the lamb and apple ones.

Click "Yes" if this helped, and send me a comment if it didn't :)

As a treat to our 2 year old ACD mix, we bought this bone for her. She loves her nylabone durachew (much to my dismay) and we were aware that this one was actually edible before we bought it. We don't often give her treats like this, and she really seemed to love it. So much so, in fact, that the entire thing was nearly gone within 10 minutes..... and we purchased the largest one - the one with the first on the end since our dog is 50+ lbs.

I had a bad feeling about it, and a few hours later, it was confirmed. My dog started gagging and then vomitted. She ate it at about 4pm and got sick around 10pm. Slept through the night, although she woke me up a few times, and was still licking her mouth and gagging the next morning. I don't know if it's because the bone is really rich and she's not used to it, but I wouldn't recommend it unless it's a product you and your dog are already familiar with as it was our experience that it made our dog ill.

If you do purchase this product, definitely make sure you watch your dog with it - if they're eating it too fast, consider taking it away so they don't devour the entire thing in 10 minutes like ours did.

I gave one to my dog and the next morning he threw up. I didnt think much of it -until I got home that evening. He did not eat dinner and had vomited in several areas. Some of the vomit had blood in it. I did an internet serach and this is not uncommong and can result in high vet bills - not to mention some dogs have died. Apparently they are NOT digested well and get caught in digestive track. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE TO YOU DOGS!

These "edible" treats should be recalled. Our 90 pound Doberman puppy began throwing up the night after eating part of this bone. Pieces of the bone created a blockage in his abdomen that had to be removed by emergency surgery. The pieces removed by the surgeon were sharp and would have penetrated his intestines. The vet said he would not have made it another day if we did not do the surgery. Our dog now has stitches in his stomach and metal staples from his chest to his groin. It will be months before he can run and play again. He is lucky to be alive. These chews are NOT edible. We hope other dog owners will read this and save themselves from the trauma we have been through because of Nylabone....

My 6 lb. chihuahua loves these. He tears through it in maybe 5 minutes. Only wish it would last longer, since it's supposed to be a chew bone/treat.

Warning to other dog owners: the edible Nylabones are extremely dangerous for dogs with a big & greedy appetite. My dog swallowed it whole within 30 seconds of giving it to her and choked on it. She was fully unconscious before I could dislodge the bone and breathe into her nose to bring her back to life... We almost lost her over this bone. If your dog is a greedy chewer or eater, then please don't buy edible Nylabones.

The package says "longer lasting". BUT may i ask...longer than WHAT? geesh my Keeshonds both scarfed these down in less than 5 mins. I was hoping for a long lasting bone that they could stay busy with for awhile. NOT!! Thankfully its not full of bad stuff, and they obviously like them, but for the price they are, i was hoping for a little chew "TIME" ya know?

My 8 week old corgi puppy has been working on one chew bone off and on for the past 5 days. He seems to enjoy that it's edible and that he's able to wear it down, as opposed to the inedible flavored Nylabones that he's hardly touched. It can keep him busy for several minutes, which for him is really good!
