Product Description

Nylon 6/6 is a general purpose thermoplastic with outstanding resistance to organic chemicals, acids and alkalis. Nylon wears well against other surfaces; it is readily machinable and may be milled, turned and cut with conventional machine tools. It does exhibit some dimensional swelling in wet applications which should be taken into account with its use. Tensile strength of this material is 12,000 psi (pounds per square inch).

This is a 6/6 nylon electrical panel isolator that's used singularly over the 8-32 screws in the 1948-64 (seat post) electrical terminal box, but the part number (-38) is from 1938 and Harley used the shoulder washers on various parts of the bike until 1964, perhaps beyond. The Harley's and Davidson's were Scotch/Irish and thrifty! They kept some of the parts on their machines from 1915 to 1974. Nobody else ever did (does) that. If so who?

An OEM (fiber) shouldered washer was used for Harley's 27/64th terminal post hole, in the 1/32" thick terminal box floor, and two isolators were used (face to face) in 27/64th holes in the 1/8" dash panel frame.

I'll test them when they arrive and report back.

They're 0.005" thinner in the shoulder which works in my favor, because space is at a premium. Their footprint is smaller than the black fiber or plastic #8 shoulder washer's used on Colony's replica terminal boxes. My only concern is radiant-heat on nylon. The only way I know is to test it and one day I will on it's first 50 miles.

These items worked fine. I bought a size too small, but was able to enlarge center so they fit my screws.

This was listed as a shoulder washer and still is under my order but it is a flat washer as it says now. So something was really wrong. Now worried about ordering any more. Their products are actually good.
