I bought this hopeing for a little releaf from the hot summer, and that is just what I got. I bought eight back up batter's a cooler and a large bag of ice. I followed the directions, pluged it in and turned it on and I got a very nice cool breeze and was pleased. Then much to my surprise, it didn't take fifteen minutes and I noticed that the air was warming fast and the ice was gone. this thing went through 20 lbs of ice like eggs through a hen. If you only want cool for a few minutes, this machine is for you. If you want cool for 20 or 30 minutes or longer, ya better buy somrhting else cause all your gonna get from this is a want for your money back, witch I haven't seen yet. Good Luck.

This thing is awesome. Definitely personal though, will keep you cool as long as it's blowing directly to you (and others). Only drawback is constantly having to get ice. Also the condensation so if you use it indoors you need to put it on something you don't mind getting wet. Used it on my camping trip and boy did it come in handy. I definitely recommend this to anyone as a cheap alternative to buying an expensive a/c unit.

I also bought this for my dogs and I agree, as long as its blowing right on you, it works great. Between the rechargable batteries and the regular batteries, it lasts a good long while. Definately good for what I purchased it for. Today I am using it at my office for myself as the air conditioning is not adequate and we are having a bit of a heat wave. I have it 2 feet away from me and its doing a great job. I just don't know how I'm going to get more ice when it runs out though.

We've used this outdoors several times to keep our dogs cool in the summer. In the dry climate of CO, the cool air over the ice is OK while it lasts, but the "mister" has been GREAT at keeping the dogs cool at rodeos etc. They plant themselves in front of it and the mist/spray in conjunction with the fan keeps them cool to the point that they're not panting in 90 degree heat. The built-in battery is good for several hours when fully charged (fan on high and mister on intermittent).
It's also great for them when we get back into the very hot car for the trip home. We put them in the back and keep them cool with this until the car's air conditioner kicks in enough to cool them.
There's no doubt this would be disappointing in a climate with high humidity, but for a dry climate like ours this thing ROCKS!

I bought this product for my office at work because we have poor A/C. The first thing I noticed was how loud the fan is -- very distracting. Next, without a constant supply of ice, it just blows room-temperature air -- not "ice cool" as claimed. Then, I ended up going through 3 large bags of ice per day to keep the air cool. Not only that, don't expect it to cool down an entire room, because unless the fan was blowing directly on me I couldn't feel any cooling effects. Not to mention that all the melting ice makes the room more humid. And don't expect to use the "mist" function indoors because it's more like a spray. To make matters worse, on the first day, the "low" fan speed stopped working and I could only run it on the very loud "high" setting. And to top it off, even the "high" speed fan stopped working on the second day. I cannot emphasize strongly enough how disappointed I was with this product. In my opinion, you're better off with a really good fan (which is what I ended up doing).

This machine is nothing but,a waste of your money. It's a water cooler for cold water, not a portable ac unit it does not work. The review of this item is misleading. Please remove it from your list. Thanks Katherine Raleigh, NC

The fan is definitely not strong enough in this unit. Even pointed directly at just one person, this fan put out less coolness than a cheap fan. Even with ice it was not cooler than any $10 fan and it took up just as much space. Definitely not worth the money.

We are using this unit for the second season of golf; it has been great like everything you need to know how to ensure you rechargeable keeps its long life. (Drain the built in rechargeable battery, then fully recharges it and again, drain once more and now you have ensured a long lasting unit).
Sure the ice will not last but it is acceptable for us, one fill will last about 1-1/2 or 1 hour if it's really hot.
We run the unit every Sat/Sunday for about 3hrs or till its dead on its rechargeable battery, but when we add ice you must always remember to empty the water or it will overflow.

This is a real bargain for the price.

Cons need to empty the water before adding extra ice. The mister can get clogged up.
Pros - Has a variety of power options, Mains, 12v auto Adaptor, Built-In rechargeable battery or D-Cells.

JUST WHAT I NEEDED!!!
I bought this (after looking all summer for something just like this) so I could keep the car comfortable for my small dog in the summer heat. I have used it several times now and love it. On average it will lower the cabin temperature 10-15 degrees, so I feel safe leaving the dog while I do SHORT errands. With the misting feature on it's really quite comfortable for her. In a large space you'll need to remember it's a "personal" air conditioner; not for a whole room. I made copies of the box graphics and display them on my car windows so people can see that I'm not neglecting my precious pooch. She's very happy to be going "bye-bye" on days when she'd normally have to stay home.

I was very disappointed that whomever Amazon used as the vendor for this product was poor. I received the product in their box and it was clear it had been used. The directions had been put in the unit and it was impossible to find out how to open the unit. The plugs had been wound together and obviously were not packaged as would be a new machine.

I almost returned it but was on my way to a dog show and needed to use it. The machine was OK. It can cool an area but if the temperature is 90 outside there is no hope of reducing the temperature with this machine. It does provide some coolness but once the machine is hot the air becomes hot even if there is still ice in the unit.

I give Amazon a poor rating for using a vendor that was poor in my opinion shipping a used or off the store shelf unit. I give the unit 2-3 based on the limited coolness it can provide though did seem to operate better than a fan.
