This review is from: OBCON Single 10" Chevy Ext. Cab 1988 - 2006 Speaker Box With Labyrinth Power Port (Electronics)
i bought this box for my 03 silverado extended cab, which the box is specifically built for. i just got it in today, and my first impression was that this box was very good looking with attention to detail. the corners are all rounded off and smooth. i fitted it under my seat and for some reason they designed it to leave about 6-8 inches of empty space between the driver side bench leg and the box. it seems like they could have used that for more air space or something. i hacked mine up right when i got it, my plan was to fit a 10" alpine type R sub in it, but the sub sits too deep so i modified the box. I wired it in and tested it in my truck. I found a joint that was leaking air, pretty disappointing since they pride themselves on their joint lock technology. so I went ahead and ran another silicone bead around every joint. I re-tested and I was getting a ton of port noise, and since I am a novice mobile audio enthusiast, I had no idea what was causing it. i did some research and realized that the port size is what causes port noise. so make sure that your sub porting specs match this box's specs. the port size is weird because it tapers. at the opening it is approx. 3 1/2"x4", it tapers all the way down to about 3/4"x4. the port length is roughly 14". it looks like these measurements are way off for my type R sub. so since I already chopped my box up, I might try to rebuild it. or I can get a new sub that works.
