Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Proper use of postpositions is a major obstacle to students of the Japanese language and presents a difficult challenge. Written with the student in mind, "Object Marking in Japanese, a Self-Study Programmed Lesson" attempts to clear the confusion from the use of the object marker/postpositions "ga" and "o" in Japanese conversational sentence structure.

From the Back Cover

This programmed, self-paced lesson focuses exclusively on object marking in Japanese without wavering or getting off track in the labyrinth of Japanese syntax and other grammatical issues.

An interesting aspect of the lesson is the introduction of a unique system to help students understand how different verbs and verb conjugations affect object marking in Japanese.

More About the Author

Robert T. Wood grew up in Northern California. After a stint in the US Navy during the early/mid 1960's he settled in Honolulu, Hawaii, then later relocated to Tokyo, Japan. He is proficient in the Japanese language and taught Japanese as a hobby for many years. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Language and a Master of Arts in East Asian Languages and Literature, specializing in Teaching Japanese as a Second Language, from the University of Hawaii. Mr. Wood has essentially spent his whole adult life studying Japanese language, history, and culture.

His professional background is law enforcement. He has a degree in Criminal Justice (Police Science) and 36 years of experience. After 16 years in one of the largest police departments in the US, he spent 20 years as a foreign counterintelligence agent for a US federal law enforcement agency. After retiring from law enforcement he was immediately hired by a global corporation as the overseas director for corporate security for the Far East region. His expertise in security, counterintelligence, and antiterrorism operations is the basis for his latest publications concerning Security Management and Information Protection.

The themes of Robert T. Wood's writings are primarily for self-improvement -- whether learning about Japanese language or learning about oneself.
