Simple yet stylish cover for the Kindle DX. This cover is a rich brown and the material is surprisingly nice --not just made for protective purposes but aesthetic ones as well. I was surprised, but happily, that the entire case is a hard shell, I had thought it would be a softer cover, but I'm very pleased that it is so durable and protective. The Kindle fits very snugly inside -- it won't slide out accidentally, but you don't struggle to get it out either. Very light, very protective, highly recommended!

I ordered this as an interim cover, as the initial DX cover selection was slim. However, I am VERY PLEASED with the product and see no need to get another cover. It is slim and sturdy - much better than expected. It has a snug fit to the DX and is quite stylish. Great product at a great price - I highly recommend it.

In my opinion this is the perfect case for the Kindle if, like me, you want minimal bulk while reading and storing your Kindle.

Pros: A sturdy, well-made case that totally protects the Kindle with the least amount of bulk. Case is snug so you don't have to worry about the Kindle slipping out. Less expensive than the leather cases! Looks good, brown with an unobtrusive "Octo" logo embossed on one side, stitched edges.

I also inadvertently tested the case, dropping the Kindle a few feet while in the case. I believe it hit on a bottom corner and neither the Kindle nor the case is the worse for wear.

Cons: Not really a problem as far as I'm concerned but someone mentioned the strong synthetic smell. I noticed that as well when I first opened the box - probably the glue for the flocking inside that keeps the Kindle getting scratched. I let the case air out without the Kindle inside for a couple of days (while I waited on my Kindle to arrive) and the smell is pretty much gone. I would have liked it better if the case was leather but it would have cost more and probably been a little bulkier. And leather smells initially as well!

The slip cover fits the Kindle DX really nice. No significant extra weight and provides stiff protection for the screen and keys. Looks very professional. Removing the Kindle DX from the slip cover is really easy, allowing to the user to hold the Kindle "naked" without any additional weight on the device, when removed from the slip cover. Really nice cover for the price to go in my briefcase. Doesn't take up extra room. Highly recommend it as a protective cover when the Kindle is not in use for transport or storage.

I wanted a cover for my DX, but didn't want a leather one. And, with the DX, I thought going with a cover that is separate from the Kindle was a better idea -- the DX is already big enough. The OCTO fits the bill -- looks fine, keeps the DX snug, and has good padding without a lot of bulk.

But, as some have mentioned, it does smeell when you get it. This seems to dissipate after a few days, but it's not particularly pleasant either...

If you have a DX, don't want animal skin, and like the slipcase format, this is a good economical choice.

I always read my Kindle 1 with the cover on and ordered Amazons' Dx cover when I upgraded but found the combination heavy for extended reading. Rather than release and reattach the DX each time I used it, I purchased the OCTO. It's perfect! Trim, light, durable and fits the Kindle like a quality driving glove fits the hand. It won't accidently slide out. It may have less cushioning in a drop but it won't flop open. The way it surrounds the DX keeps it cleaner and more protected in a backpack or motorcycle saddlebag. Great color. Simple design. Recommended.

We own a Kindle 1, several Kindle 2s and a Kindle DX. We have different covers for each but have traditionally gone for book style flip covers. For my DX I was concderend that there'd be too much bulk in a flip-open style cover so I took a shot at this slip on cover.

I'm gald I did. It is well made and fits the Kindle DX perfectly. It slips on tightly, but not too tightly. The feel of the fake leather is great. The workmanship is great too.

The only downside, as far as I can tell, is slip covers are yet another thing to lose because they are not attached to the device. But that's a general comment about the style, not this particular product.

You won't be dissapointed with this cover.

This is exactly what it purports to be: a simple slip cover for the Kindle DX. I like to use the Kindle "naked", so I don't want Amazon's case. All I wanted was some sort of protection for when it is not in use. This does the job wonderfully. It adds very little bulk and, because it's a tight fit, you don't have to worry about the Kindle DX ever falling out of the case.

My only complaint is that it does seem cheap. I would have preferred genuine leather, even though it would raise the price. I would have given it five stars. Still, there weren't any better slip covers out there -- at least not on day one.

After not being happy with many other Kindle covers, I purchased a wonderful red pouch that was really good quality from Octo for my Kindle 1 (Valentines' Day gift from my husband). My friend fell in love with the Kindle and purchased a Kindle 2. When looking for a cover, I told her to see what Octo had because I had the best luck with my purchase from them. The slipcover fit perfectly for her and she was very satisfied! So, since my son was constantly taking my Kindle, I recently treated myself to the Kindle DX. Without even shopping for a cover, I bought the Octo Slipcover. My Kindle is safe and secure in my bag everywhere I go.

My needs were: 1) a case with some structure to protect the Kindle in a bag with other stuff, 2) a lightweight cover that was easy to remove, 3) a synthetic material (I avoid leather where practical, although a great Cole Haan portfolio cover would have been hard to pass up), and 4) something that didn't look goofy. This case is the only one available at the time of writing that meets every requirement. It looks like brown/oxblood leather, for what that's worth, and I wasn't bothered by the "new-case smell," which was quite faint.
