Perfect for reading in the pool or at the beach,

This should not be your first Kindle case -- it isn't what you need to protect the Kindle from bumps in a purse and it does make it harder to use the buttons on the Kindle. However if you need a case for reading in the pool, beach or bath tub, this is a great choice.
I bought mine just before a beach trip. I spent several hours sitting in the pool, reading my Kindle. I also took the Kindle on to the beach in this. It is a waterproof sleeve that fits your Kindle quite tightly and protects it. I wouldn't immerse the Kindle in water in this but it did protect the Kindle from splashes, sand and sun screen. The clear plastic is easy to read through. The case shows you where the Next Page, Prev Page and Home buttons are. The Next Page and Prev Page buttons worked very well through the case. However the cursor button and on/off switch were a little harder to maneuver. I was able to move them but not as easily. Therefore, it doesn't work as well for reading a newspaper where I wanted to switch from one article to another with the 5-way cursor. For book reading, where you typically only use the Next Page button, it works really well. My recommendation is that you understand what you want this case for. If it's for protecting the Kindle during typical beach reading, go for it.

As advertised,
This review is from: OCTOVO Splash Proof Case (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) - Red (Electronics)
What I like about the case is that it allows operation of the Kindle DX while it's in the case and doesn't add weight or thickness to the Kindle. This case does what it says, "Splash Proof". If you want a protective cover that you can read through that will prevent damage if someone spills something on you or if it starts to rain, then this is a good option.
I found it a bit tricky at first to get used to operating the five direction mouse with the case on but I think I have mastered it! From reading some other reviews, I had no problems in getting the Kindle DX in and out of the case. I was looking for a protective case at a reasonable price. So this does the job!

It is awkward to get to the on/of button, and you have to take it off to charge it. But it does achieve its purpose of making it water resistant and now I can read by the pool without worrying. I would recommend it for this purpose as long as you understand the limitations.

A Great Cover for the Pool!!!,

This review is from: OCTOVO Splash Proof Case (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) - Red (Electronics)
First thing to note, this cover is not going to be the day to day cover of your dreams for your new Kindle 2. There are a million other covers that make more sense for when you are snuggly on your sofa...reading a book. However, this cover is the BEST THING EVER when you are on vacation ... and plan to sit at the pool, sit in the pool, at the beach and READ!!!
On the general use of the cover: 1) perfect fit for Kindle 2 2) most of the buttons are perfectly functional (volume being the exception for me) 3) very easy to get on and off, yet very water resistant 4) no issues with glare from the plastic, even in full sun I dropped my Kindle in the water at least once, no issues. Not a total submerge, but a face first quick bath! Turning the Kindle on/off/hibernate/wake was not terribly difficult and didnt require opening ... but a fingernail is generally needed. If you do have to open to do so, its velcro, not a huge deal. You will not be able to charge the Kindle with the cover closed, however the charge lasts so long on the Kindle, I cannot imagine how you will be terribly inconvenienced while using this by water, as its intended.

Bummer!,

This case is a joke, a good idea gone bad somewhere in the middle. It doesn't fit well, makes it impossible to use navigation joystick, and does not allow access to turn on/off and volume buttons on the sides. I had to take it off in order to charge my Kindle.
I am returning this. Thank you but no thank you!!!

Not What I Expected,

I agree with the other review. I was looking for something to protect my Kindle without adding bulk. This product does that but makes the Kindle difficult to use. You cannot access the power button without undoing the velcro at the top. The joystick is also difficult to use through the case and you have to completely remove the case in order to charge it. The case is not easy to take on and off either. Not a well-thought out design. I would not recommend it.

Great case. Fits perfectly unlike others I have seen that are waterproof/resistant. Nice feel in hand.

This case is nothing fancy, but it does the job well for me. I had no problems at all with fit or with using the various buttons or features. I have children and pets, and since this case has saved my Kindle from accidental splashes and cat hairs, I am pretty loyal.
My only minor quibble is now that I have to slide the power button to activate/deactivate the screensaver feature with the Kindle2, I have to open the velcro top of this case to access the button each time. I have a feeling that the velcro or the stitching probably won't last that long because of this. But so far so good.

This is not the only cover you should have for your kindle. I agree with the other reviews that this cover makes the Kindle a little harder to use BUT it does serve its purpose of protecting your kindle from water, sand and other hazards if you want to use it at the beach or pool.

Perfect for reading near water, but not as the regular case,

I purchased this case for my kindle 2, and all the reviews are true. This case is made of a soft foamy material with a soft plastic cover that makes it difficult to use the joystick. It does not allow access to the on/off and volume buttons on the side and you have to take it out of the case to charge it. The case is also not waterproof since it is made of foamy material, but it does offer protection against drops of water, sand, and wetness from your hands if you're reading near the beach or pool, which is what I purchased it for and the only reason you should buy the case. The soft plastic distorts the reading screen slightly, so there is no way you'd want to use this as your regular protection case.
