Good, but not exactly what I wanted,
By Cara (Tampa, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: OCTOVO Splash Proof Case (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) - Black (Electronics)
The case works exactly as it states. It completely covers the Kindle so that it stays protected from the elements. The only drawback is that there is no easy way to access the power button, or the slot of charging. You have to open the top to get the power button each time you need to turn it on or off. And you have to pull it out to charge it. Getting it on and off isn't that easy, so taking it out to charge is a pain. Though I can understand that they needed to keep it completely enclosed for it to be 'splash proof', but I think what I wanted was just a cover to protect it with easy access to the power and charger... so this wasn't what I was looking for.

I would buy it again,

I found this product to be sufficient, I like it because it protects my kindle. Yes it is a little more difficult to operate the 5 way control, and to access the power button, however not impossible. If you have fingernails, ladies, you can flip the power switch. I didn't find it that difficult to take the kindle out to charge and put it back in the case, it takes a little effort but it's worth it to me. I would purchase this case again.

Great Week at the Beach!,

This review is from: OCTOVO Splash Proof Case (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) - Black (Electronics)
This case made my week at the beach with my Kindle DX the best ever. I took the OCTO splash- and sand-proof case off only to charge the battery (and I only needed to charge it twice because the battery life is amazing as long as you are not online). I didn't bother to put the Kindle back into my regular case when I was indoors. It is fabulous! My Kindle was safe and not a drop of sand got in, and after a while the case loosens up a bit and accessing the power button required opening the velcro only an inch or two. I bought one for my son's Kindle 2 as well, once I realized it provided inexpensive and necessary protection for our favorite reading devices.

I had purchased one of the regular fold type covers for my Kindle 2 when I got my beloved Kindle2 for my birthday. We were heading to the beach and I LOVE to read on the beach so this was a a definite "need" purchase!!Now I use this cover all the time, I actually prefer it over the other cover. As has already been stated you do have to remove the Kindle to charge, which I find to be no big deal as I just remove and plug it in before I go to bed each night. The joystick is a little hard to move but you get used to it - the on/off switch you can do with the cover closed but I just open the top enough to flip the switch - no big deal at all. My Kindle was safe and sound in this skin, not a grain of sand touched it and I didn't worry about any accidential splashes either. Perfecto!

Puts my mind at ease....,
This review is from: OCTOVO Splash Proof Case (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) - Black (Electronics)
I was afraid my Kindle 2 would get scratched, dirty, or wet and this product seems to prevent all these things. It is sleek, fits well, and after you get the hang of the 5-way control button, you can access all of the Kindle's buttons with ease. Reading through the screen protector does not change the experience. Because it is water resistant, it seals the Kindle in so you have to take it out to charge it. But that is what the case is for - to be splash proof. One of the better cases out there for the Kindle. Sleep easy my friends...

Couldn't Be Happier!,
This review is from: OCTOVO Splash Proof Case (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) - Black (Electronics)
I do a *lot* of reading when I'm on the bike or stairmaster at the gym. My main hesitation in getting a Kindle was fear that I would ruin it by dripping sweat on it when turning the page. Once I found this splash proof cover I went ahead and ordered both it and the Kindle last week. The cover is absolutely perfect....easy to slip on the Kindle...no problem using the navigation buttons. There is a just bit of glare (could be the gym lighting..), but not enough to diminish my enjoyment of both my new Kindle and this cover...

This is a great product for when sitting out by the pool or any other situation where you want to protect your kindle. It certainly isn't perfect - you have to unseal the top in order to turn your kindle on and off, but that's the nature of this type of protector. Reading with the plastic protector is very easy. Clicking the page turning, menu, and home buttons were very easy. However, the stylus button was hard to use, making it difficult to scroll up and down. Overall a good product.

Very Protective Cover,
This review is from: OCTOVO Splash Proof Case (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) - Black (Electronics)
I have to say that I have really liked this cover. It is very protective. I can see and use all the features on my Kindle and still protect it. I have four children and I thought I should get something very protective. I am so glad I did. I feel comfortable enough to take my Kindle with me to swim lessons. I also feel comfortable carrying my Kindle in my purse. I don't have to worry about grit getting into the crevices. The only disadvantage is how the joystick is covered. It can make navigating a bit challenging. It just takes a bit of getting used to. I actually think it's more of a design flaw of this version of the Kindle. The newer version doesn't have this kind of joystick for navigation.

luv this product,
This review is from: OCTOVO Splash Proof Case (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) - Black (Electronics)
We have 2 of these and have had them for 2 yrs. They are great. We live in the tropics and this protects our kindle 2nd gen from sand, salt and sea splashes. I modified it by putting 2 small slits in the side so that it would fit in the m-edge book holder. You can easily access the power button and also the charger button. When using whispernet you just need to make sure both are open so the whispernet can see the wireless. i hope you get more of these in because I want to purchase 2 more for when these start showing wear, although it has been 2 yrs and they are still almost like new, they are in constant use.

Works great... but now there's a bad glare,

One of the reasons I got the kindle was to read at a the beach... With all the sand and water I knew I would need a water proof (and sand proof) case. For those functions this cover works great. I don't find that the power buttons to hard to reach or that recharging it is difficult (just open the bottom flap, you don't have to take the case off to do this). My one BIG problem with this case is that the glare is horrible! As the sun comes with the beach this is a major design flaw to me. The designers should of used and anti-glare plastic for the screen cover part of it. I'd be fine with paying a little bit more for this. I still always keep the case on my kindle though, I'd rather deal with the glare then ruin my kindle with sand and water.
