This PSU overheated and died at around 1 year and 1 month old. Thank goodness OCZ offers a 3 year warranty on this item. As a previous user stated you will smell a burnt electronic smell and then the PSU will die. Mine was extremely hot to the touch right as it died.

It would appear overheating and then dying is cronic with this PSU, as there are only a few reviews and this is already stated here a couple of times.

OCZ is normally a good company and I fully expect to recieve a replacement product (hopefully this model is discontinued and they replace it with a more reliable model). Also I have not put my old PSU in my computer yet so I hope it didn't take any other components with it.

as a 700W PSU this one is cheap.
But to me ,it's not quite enough. The fan it used always run in full speed, and that's the loudest fan in my case.
Then I open PSU and cut the fan's wire ,set a speed control on the wire. Then it finally stealth as it's name.

I bought this PSU after the one that came with my computer case finally kicked the bucket and I love it so far. I was semi-under powered before, but now I have all the power I need with plenty of room for future upgrades. Also, my case has been cooler and my large internal fan no longer sounds like a jet engine with I start up.

My only complaint is that there is a somewhat excessive amount of wires and connections. It had taken me awhile to arrange both the ones I was using and the ones I wasn't. However, I know that if I add anything new, I'll have a connection for it.

I purchased my unit in July 2008 and it just died. Just like the other reviews I smelt a burnt rubber smell about a week ago. Well tonight I turned my computer on for 15 minutes and the smell filled the room. My computer then shut down on its own. I opened up the case and there was quete a bit of smoke coming from the psu and it was hot enough to burn my hand. Luckily the unit has a 3 year warranty so hopefully I'll be getting a more moder and working replacement soon!

I bought this psu almost three years ago now. I bought it for a gaming rig and it ran perfectly, then I recomended it to a friend for his rig, then a month later it died (about a year into ownership). As annoying as that was OCZ deffinitley made it up to me by replacing my old psu with a newer model and that one has no issues. Solid psu, just watch out for the old models (2010 an prior).

Smelled like something burning, and then the PC instantly shut off. Luckily, no damage to other PC components.

Put in an old power supply and everything worked fine. Didn't expect this from OCZ...

The power supply is doing good so far. It has plenty of length on the cables and enough connectors for most PCs. I bought it to replace an 'Echo Star' 680 watt power supply that came with the PC. It was easy to install and the cables are dressed and out of the way. It all looks good. I had added an EVGA NVIDIA Geforce 9800GT video card a few weeks ago and I guess that cheap Echo Star couldn't handle the load. It actually burned up with a horrible smell. This OCZ 700 watt PS runs quiet and cool. I'm pleased so far. Wish me luck. I'm lucky that the old PS didn't take out other components with it.

Update: March 10, 2010

Well, this power supply has burned up in a cloud of smoke and putrid smell like the other brand it replaced. It set off my smoke alarm this morning. I have purchased a Corsair 750 watt. Wish me luck on how long it lasts. The PC doesn't have a heavy load. It's not a gaming PC. 700 watts should have been more than enough. Oh, well.

The good news is that I did receive my rebate on the OCZ.

OCZ did replace the bad power supply. I have put it in another PC and it is working great so far.
