5.0 out of 5 stars This is really fast....not kidding !!!
I just tested this OCZ ATV Turbo 8gb USB Drive (OCZUSBATVT8G). Note the T before the 8G in the model number. The T is for Turbo and means it is faster than the regular ATV and more expensive. I don't know about the non Turbo model but would like to try it. I have an older Dell laptop 1.7Ghz with 1gb of RAM. I wrote 750mb of files in a folder containing 75 files of...

Poorly designed. The item is a flash drive in a rubber sleeve. USB broke solder points under minimal use. I had to hyper extend the drive to make and keep connection long enough to retrieve data. Thankfully it wasn't full.

I wrote 750mb of files in a folder containing 75 files of 10mb RAW NEF size in about minute or less. That is about 12mb-15mb/sec rate. For an older computer (about 4 years old) that is terrific. I returned a highly touted Patriot Xporter 32gb to EGGHEAD which could only muster a write speed of less than 1mb/sec or 15 minutes to do the above files (this would take 8 hours to fill the 32gb card).

Space is important but you need the write speed to get the files to it. It seems that the computer you have makes a big difference (duh!) but if you need speed on an older computer you really need a very fast flash drive. This ATV Turbo costs more and is smaller (in GB) than others but it has excellent speed and adequate space for backup photos on a short field trip. I'm sure it will work even faster on a newer computer. It's tough to believe all the hype on different flash drives by the makers and even people who review them (with super fast computers) but in the real world this is a super flash drive.

Also very rugged and sturdy. A minor plus is the bright yellow with black stripes. The bright orange led is nice to see that it's working.
