Works great, no problems. This USB pen drive is very fast on read and write operations. Of the 7 other USB drives I own, this one is noticeably faster. It comes without anything on it - no free software, bloatware or any other kind of unnecessary junk. The cap fits snugly and doesn't fall off easily like some other USB drives.

Small device, large capacity, but slow with large number of small files,

This drive works fine, but it's very slow for transferring a folder that consists of many small files. For example, it took over 11 hours to transfer a 5.34GB folder consisting of 50,000 files. The slow speed seems to be caused by the number of files being transferred, rather than the total storage size of the transfer. Transferring a single 1.39GB file took less than two minutes. I can live with this shortcoming, since I use the drive for backups, and now that I've done the initial file transfer, subsequent incremental backups will be much quicker.
As others have mentioned, the cap is removable and easily lost. It would have been nice for it to fit on the other end of the device, like the cap on a ball point pen. I'm still amazed at how such a small device can store so much data. Over all, I'm pleased with this little gadget.

I spent considerable time researching one of the 32GB flash drives before deciding on the OCZ product. I found a review that performed some extensive tests on three of the 32GB UFDs. What surprised me is that the Corsair product appeared to be quite slow in all but the Windows Vista "Ready Boost" test. The reason this surprised me is that my wife owns a Corsair 8GB UFD and I used it before buying the OCZ product. I found the Corsair product to be quite reliable and (it seemed to me) fast.
However, based on the research that I did and on the reviews here on Amazon, I decided to buy the OCZ brand. I have mixed feelings about the product now that I have used it for about a month. The storage capacity is great, but the performance is not what I expected. When accessing it via Windows XP SP2, there is often an unexpainable delay. I might just be deleting some files or folders or navigating around in the drive and, suddenly, there will be a pronounced delay. I haven't experienced this with any of the other flash drives that I have owned. Also, when I start a large copy operation from my PC to the flash drive (lots of small to medium sized files) I have experienced "strange" behavior. Once, the copy operation stalled, saying that the drive was full. When I stopped the copy and tried to check the drive, it appeared that there wasn't anything on the drive at all. I unplugged it and checked it on another computer and got the same result: the drive appeared to be empty. After restarting the original PC and plugging the OCZ drive back into it, it showed up "normal" again. The drive was not full, so I don't know what the problem was. *** Update: 3/3/2009, I have revised my opinion of this product toward the negative. Having owned this USB flash drive for several months now I find that it has a consistent flaw in copying large volumes of data. It continually "stalls" and disconnects during the copy operation. I have to keep restarting the copy operation. Just a few days ago I reformatted the drive to change how it boots. It took several days elapsed time to copy about 25GB of files of varying size. The copy operation would stall and I would have to keep restarting it. I tried to just copy "changed" files, but that wasn't any help. I had to manually compare my source and destination and find out where the copy stalled and select only the new files to copy. This is unacceptable. I won't buy from this manufacturer again. -

I've had this for about two months now and have had no problems. It is quick, even when writing encrypted files (using TrueCrypt), and so far very reliable. If you need a large flash drive I would highly recommend this one. This was the first OCZ product I ever purchase and I will consider OCZ for all my future flash needs.

This drive has large capacity in a decent form factor. The casing feels sturdy and has a nice texture. It seems to function normally although the light is obnoxious and on by default. There are two problems with this pen drive: First it has a removable cap with no method of storing the cap when the drive is in use. I fully expect to lose the cap even though I am careful - how many times does this simple problem need to be solved? Second the data transfer speed seems to be slower than either of my previous drives (8G data traveler and 4Gcruzer micro). Besides holding all my files I also run applications from my pen drives, and with this drive there seem to be significant and noticeable lags and freezes that I never noticed with previous drives. If you need the size this is a decent drive (large file transfer speeds are good). But if you are also looking for a drive to run applications from I suggest against it, or that you do what I'm going to and use a separate faster drive for your applications.

This thing is FAST!! And with the 32GB I was able to use it to quickly and easily transfer hundreds of photos from my desktop to my laptop in merely minutes plus I had plenty of space left over! I didn't have to anything at all once I got it, just plug it in and go! This is perfect for any application you want to use it for, transferring files, songs, videos, or pictures. I have used it to do quick backups of really important files & records too!

I picked up an OCZ Rally2 Flash Drive because it was on sale at a local store (Micro Center). I am in the process of loading my backup folder (containing numerous sub folders each with numerous MS Word documents with large amounts of graphics).
I loaded the same folder to a new Patriot XT Boost and the OCZ Rally2 at the same time. The Patriot XT Boost was done in less than a minute and about 20 minutes later the OCZ Rally2 is indicating 11 minutes remaining. I have consistently had better results in terms of speed and reliability with my Patriot flash drives, but the OCZ Rally2 was so much slower, that I felt I needed to warn others.

Fast drive, but don't format it!,
This review is from: OCZ USB 2.0 32 GB Dual Channel Rally2 Pen Drive (OCZUSBR2DC-32GB) (Personal Computers)
I did a lot of research before buying this drive. The benchmarks showed that it was one of the fastest around, and since I planned on filling the 32GB drive on a regular basis, I wanted it to be fast.
However, not long after I bought it, I found that it was significantly slower than advertised. At first I thought the benchmarks had lied, but after a lot of reading, I found out that the drive has been specially formatted when it's manufactured and that reformatting it will cut its performance in half! If you already did this, there is a way to fix it, but you have to be very careful. OCZ has a program called MPTool which will reformat it the same way it is done in the factory. This will bring the speed back up to normal. As long as you don't screw up the formatting, the drive is fast and reliable, but if you're like many people out there who have formatted the drive for one reason or another, you'll find it is considerably slower. This seems to be a common problem. OCZ should have done more to avoid this and to help people after the fact. The MPTool program that you can find is complicated and dangerous; it's not a good solution to the problem. If you just want a flash drive that works, avoid this one. If you don't mind having to hack it, it's quite fast at a decent price.

Works fine but the cover over the USB connection has a tendency to come off very easily. Since the cover is made entirely of plastic, I haven't figured out a way to make it fit a bit tighter.

I'm satisfied with the product. I'm using the Rally 2 for two weeks and at this moment I haven't had any problem with this USB memory. I use it at home and my work. I copied the information from a 8GB USB on it and it took 32 minutes. I have copied movies on it and took from 15 to 18 minutes each, I am using with portable applications and it's working O.K.
