3.0 out of 5 stars Does not run on motherboards with only 1.8 volt support for memory

This review is from: OCZ Gold GX Edition 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) 240-PIN DDR2 PC2-6400 Memory Kit (Personal Computers)
I bought 4 GB of this memory for my new Intel DP35DP mainboard, together with an Intel Core 2 quad processor Q6600. As I thought my new board supports 800 Mhz memory I did not investigate further. That was not a good idea as I noticed after installing the new 4 GB of OCZ memory. My PC ran for about 3 hours and then it shut down and never came up again. I could not even enter into the BIOS setup, I was pretty scared that something burned out.

After doing some research in the Internet I found out that my Intel board does support only 1.8 volt memory but the OCZ memory requires at least 1.9 volt (but it is specified for 2.1 Volt, so if the mainboard supplies 2.1 Volt would be better).

I removed the memory and tested it with an ASUS A5K Deluxe board, with this board the memory runs just fine.

Resuming it's a good memory but not for all motherboards. It seems that Intel boards in general do not support voltages over 1.8 (at least as what I found out). If you own an Intel board, don't buy this memory.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Fast Service from OCZ Tech., July 30, 2007
This review is from: OCZ Gold GX Edition 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) 240-PIN DDR2 PC2-6400 Memory Kit (Personal Computers)
I bought this product from ANTonline and learned that only one of the module worked. Tried to return to ANTonline but they did not allow returning defective product. ANTonline is the worst vendor I have ever worked with. There is no real person to talk to and every email exchanges take 1+ day. Buyers beware! Read ANTonline return policy before buying stuff from them.

Anyway So I have to contact OCZ for RMA and amazingly within a week I got a replacement. Awesome!

On the product performance-wise, it has been working great so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Run Better than the Corsair XMS2, November 9, 2010

This review is from: OCZ Gold GX Edition 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) 240-PIN DDR2 PC2-6400 Memory Kit (Personal Computers)
I purchased a pair of corsair XMS2 in the same capacity as these a year ago but decided to go with the OCZ GOLD because of the price this time. I purchased these and they seem to execute apps and programs a slight bit faster than the Corsair's not to mention they look alot nicer through my case window especilally how the blue led's glisten off the gold plated heat spreads... If you want a cheap upgrade to give your PC a boost in performance, you cant go wrong with these.. Amazon Prime Fast Shipping is awesome! Well worth the annual fee!

System: ASUS M4A785-M AMD785G HDMI MATX, AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Deneb 3.0GHz AM2+ 125W Quad-Core, 4GB OCZ GX Gold DDR2, Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB, WinXP PRO32...

I am glad that the life of a computer can be extended with some upgrades. I bought these modules when I first built the computer rig about 2 years ago so it was proper to buy them again to complete the circle when I upgraded to windows 7(64 bit). Now I have a total of 4GB and can run windows xp compatibility mode and I am very happy with the outcome. My suggestion is to stay with reputable brand names. In the past I have bought generic memory for my rig and ended crashing the computer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Compatibility issues. Only recommended for enthusiasts/experts., February 24, 2010
This review is from: OCZ Gold GX Edition 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) 240-PIN DDR2 PC2-6400 Memory Kit (Personal Computers)
This RAM is VERY picky as to what motherboards it's compatible with. Check the motherboard manufacturer's website. Note that even if the 2GBx2 or 4GBx2 kits are listed as compatible, this may not be. Even if your motherboard is compatible, you will likely need to do a BIOS upgrade or change timing or voltage settings. I have not seen these work in a motherboard strait from the box yet. And the current motherboard I'm aiming to use appears to be completely incompatible.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK memory, August 31, 2008
This review is from: OCZ Gold GX Edition 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) 240-PIN DDR2 PC2-6400 Memory Kit (Personal Computers)
I've ordered OCZ memory many times. It's decent, about the same as any other decent brand. The big problem with OCZ though is they are constantly running rebates which is one of the big factors in buying OCZ. The rebate period maybe the shortest time from any brand, 12 days. The usual time Ive seen generally is one to two months! By the time you get the sticks you have a very short time left. In fact if there are any delays in shipping or getting the items, you often miss the postmark deadline.

This is especially true if you pick Amazon's cheaper and slower delivery options. By choosing Free Shipping, theres a big chance you won't even get the item in time before the deadline passes. So factor that in when ordering OCZ items with rebates.

Son muy buenas memorias, tanto para hacer cosas de trabajos como para juegos, lo que las encuentro un poco caras.
