5.0 out of 5 stars Great memory but...
Wth is wrong with the current price, I paid $47,98 for this ram and the current price is more than double. What? the price of the "components" to make the memory have raised 230% too?, this is nonsense... Memory manufacturers are ripping us off again...

1.0 out of 5 stars After 2 replacement sets, had to go with a different model.
Initial RAM I received was bad, crashed PCs and one of the DIMMs failed MemoryTest in multiple logic boards. Received a replacement set, both DIMMS in set failed and crashed PCs. Second replacement set, one of the DIMMS failed test and crashed PCs. Went with OCZ Reaper series (not much more expensive) and they passed all tests and have never once cause a crash. I'd avoid...

These RAM sticks work great; they completely solved my computer crashing problem (which apparently was caused by bad RAM), and now my computer is faster than ever.

And the RAM is still working great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Performance and Good Value, February 26, 2009
This review is from: OCZ OCZ2G8004GK DDR2 800MHz 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) Gold Edition Kit (Personal Computers)
Installed this memory, for a total of 8gb, after upgrading my system to Vista 64-bit mode. Good compatibility with Intel D975XBX2 motherboard and minimal heat generation.

OCZ's rebate process provides current status information and prompt fulfillment.

I have used OCZ's memory sticks for a few years and have never had a problem, good value for money and they do what they are designed to do.

Not much to say on this RAM, its probably not the fastest, it isnt water cooled, and it doesnt glow in the dark, but it works in my daughter's HP Pavillion. I cant comment on its ability to be overclocked since that is not what I purchased it for. It was to replace the cheap Hynix RAM that died less than 2 years after being in service. Aside from the timings I cant find anything wrong. If you need 4GB 1.8v DDR2 PC2-6400 DRAM for a non-overclocked box, then buy this RAM.

Pros:
No sticks were DOA (seems to be a common problem among other brands...)
1.8v DDR2 800MHz PC2-6400
Seems to work fine on the HP branded ASUS M2N68-LA motherboard.
MemTest x86 1.70 cant find any troubles after 2 hours.
Cool shiny gold heat spreaders.
Kids are happy the PC works again.
Lifetime warranty.
Package is easy to open.

Cons:
Timing is autoconfigured to 6-6-6-18 @ 800MHz
(This might be a fault of the motherboard since the HP branded board can't be configured to modify timings.)
Package is not tamperproof.

My quick and concise comments about this memory are:

* Is very good and robust, is my second pair of this brand in 3 years.
* Do their job and are very easy to install, will make your system more stable and faster and takes no more than 30 seconds to replace the old ones and put these.
* Did I say that they are really inexpensive?

Buy them and be happy...

My computer acts like it got a B-12 shot! More memory usually improves the computer performace and this memory works just fine. No problems installing or using.

I have used this for 2 years in a Gigabyte P35 motherboard without a single hiccup. I do not OC tho... and a lot of the rep for this memory is in OC potential. The prices right now are not the fault of OCZ, this item is no longer in production, and the remaining new items out there are NOS, and are being priced up by retailers hoping to catch people who already have some of this RAM and want to add additional modules to an existing system. When the retailers get tired of sitting on these, the prices will drop. I am switching to Corsair XMS2 on my main system because it is only $50 for 2xGB, and has slightly faster timing than the OCZ. My existing OCZ gold I will be selling here for a reasonable price, and if it does not sell, it will get used in my HTPC. Overkill for sure, but since I already have it...
