5.0 out of 5 stars Used in an iMac 24" purchased in Dec 2008
I almost feel like vendors try to not let you find this memory.

If you think about it Apple is placing SO-DIMM RAM which was intended for laptops into its desktop. Very unusual but it definitely makes sense from a size perspective. However it is always more challenging to find the right RAM using other sites tools to determine the \best fit for your machine...

1.0 out of 5 stars This was not compatible with my Macbook Pro (early 2008)
After reading several reviews of this working on the Macbook Pro and it being compatible (being able to run 800MHz RAM), I was disappointed to find it didn't work at all. As other people have mentioned once I did a far deeper search online, if you put in both 800 MHz sticks it doesn't work, if you switch one of the 800MHz with one of the original sticks (667 MHz), it will...

Well if you have a 2008 iMac these chips are smoking. It runs my iMac like a champ at least for the last month. I will see over time if there are any other issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Low Cost, High quality, fast delivery, July 18, 2008

This is by far the best investment I've made since my Imac. If you have a Mac(or pc) this is a great deal, it will increase productivity specially if you are running several applications at the same time. If you run Parralels or VM ware fusion, this will also make your life a lot easier. I actually run VMware fusion with vista (dont ask why) and the original ram(1gb) was not enough to keep full speed on both operating systems at the same time. Now with 4gb it's more than enough to get things done fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast for flexible systems, April 15, 2009

Memory works fine in my Tecra M5 (667MHz). Also tested this memory in a Dell D620 (667MHz) and D630 (800MHz) with no problems. This is fast CAS5 memory if your system will adjust it's timings to the SPD on the memory, but none of these systems took advantage of the faster timings so I can't tell you what the performance gain would be. For those who want to know, here are the SPD timings from the memory.
PC6400 - 5.0 5 5 18 23
PC5300 - 4.0 5 5 15 20
PC4200 - 3.0 4 4 12 16

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked perfectly in new Imac, June 1, 2008

I purchased a new Imac that uses the faster memory. Instead of paying the high price for memory from Apple I decided to try it from Amazon since it was half the price. When I recieved the memory I just popped open the memory slot, took out the old memory that came in the computer and replace with these. It was a perfect fit and the Apple never complained once.

After reading several reviews of this working on the Macbook Pro and it being compatible (being able to run 800MHz RAM), I was disappointed to find it didn't work at all. As other people have mentioned once I did a far deeper search online, if you put in both 800 MHz sticks it doesn't work, if you switch one of the 800MHz with one of the original sticks (667 MHz), it will work as it runs both the sticks at the 667 MHz speed (runs at the lowest of the 2 speeds).

So if in doubt don't buy it for your Macbook Pro and rather just get the certified sticks. It's was only a few dollars more expensive.

Since these didn't work I am rating these 1 star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Turbo charge your iMac, April 7, 2009

I added this to my 20" iMac and love the extra RAM! Install was quick and easy, grab a small phillips head screwdriver, remove a screw, pull the tab to remove the old RAM and pop these new OCZ sticks in there! Screw the plate back on and power up your turbo charged mac! DO NOT buy memory at the Apple store, they will rob you blind!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a positive experience on my Dell XPS M1710, July 18, 2009

I bought these to upgrade my Dell XPS M1710 memory from 2 GB to 4 GB.

The good:
1. Excellent value for money (provided it works for you)

Bad:
1. It causes my Windows OS to crash unexpectedly.
2. It also causes my Ubuntu 9.04 to freeze. I have a dual boot system and both OSes work fine with the original 2 GB memory.
3. These memory cards also fail the Dell diagnostic test (that comes with the BIOS) in my laptop. In particular, the walking 1's and 0's test fails.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Boost for iMac at a Good Price, August 3, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: OCZ OCZ2M8004GK PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz SODIMM 4 GB Kit (Personal Computers)
I recently switched from Windows to Mac at home. I've been seriously involved with just about every aspect of software and hardware development for the Wintel platform since its inception, and I'm an expert on everything from system assembly and setup to support to large enterprise software development. I told you that to tell you this...after having used a Mac for a month, I'll never go back.

This memory upgrade is an excellent option for the newer iMacs (May 08 version). I bought the iMac with its standard 2GB of memory and bought this kit to upgrade to 4GB. Excellent performance improvement for less than Apple would have charged for the upgraded.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The iMac 2GB comes with 2 1GB memory chips--that totally fills the slots. If you want to upgrade to 4GB, you can't just buy a single 2GB chip and put it in...you have to take out the memory that came with it and put the 2 new chips in. Fortunately, it's a very simple process (just requires a moderately small Phillips screwdriver), and there are pictures showing how to do it in the Mac manuals and printed on the memory door itself. *Way* easier than doing it on a PC.

I highly recommend this upgrade.

4.0 out of 5 stars <3 Amazon Customer Service, April 13, 2009
This review is from: OCZ OCZ2M8004GK PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz SODIMM 4 GB Kit (Personal Computers)
One stick came in dead, causing BSODs and messing up drivers, etc. After confirming the stick was dead through Memtest, I contacted Amazon regarding rebate and warranty issues, and Amazon quickly sent replacement sticks. Moreover, they reassured me that the replacement set did not affect the rebate. Thanks, Amazon =).

5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine - Lenovo T61P March 2008 build, April 8, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: OCZ OCZ2M8004GK PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz SODIMM 4 GB Kit (Personal Computers)
Not much new or special to add - just a datapoint - works great in my Lenovo T61P. The 3.3ish GB the OS (Vista 32 for now) sees makes it run a whole lot more responsively than it did with the original 2GB.

Recommended.

Maybe someday I'll move to Windows 7 (or at least Vista 64), or, better yet, to Ubuntu - to enjoy performance that belies the reasonably good specs (for a mid-2008 laptop)! But this memory is a great stop-gap while I'm stuck with Vista 32 for work reasons.
