Fantastic mouse! There is not a single aspect of this mouse that I dislike. The fit, finish, and design have all been flawlessly executed, and the mouse is exceptionally pleasing, both ergonomically and aesthetically. A button located behind the scroll wheel allows you to cycle through 6 different DPI settings, with the current DPI being indicated by the color of the scroll wheel backlight. The "triple-threat" button is the reason I bought this mouse, and it has performed wonderfully well. I play COD4 online, and now my favorite rifle (H&K G3) has the ability to fire in 3-shot bursts with deadly accuracy each and every time I press the perfectly positioned, studded orange "triple-threat" button. The software is easy enough to use, and although I doubt I'll have the desire to use any of the advanced settings it's nice to know that they're there, should I be so inclined. As icing on the cake, the mouse came with 8 extra gliders. In summation, this is both the least expensive and best peripheral I have ever purchased; it's a true bargain, and in my opinion OCZ could charge twice as much for this mouse and it still would be a fair price.

Imporve your Gaming!,

Improve your Gaming!Build Quality: The build quality on this mouse is very good. First of all let me talk about the materials used. Although I do not know the proper name for it, the plastic is a very high quality soft plastic that almost has a rubbery feel to it. It is the same type of plastic that can be found inside of BMWs and is of the finest quality. The only exception is the red triple shot, dpi setting, and two alt buttons are made of typical crappy hard plastic. This is a wired mouse, which I was quite opposed to since I find wires very annoying. But the wire actually is not. It is the thinnest mouse wire I have ever seen making it about half the thickness of a typical mouse's wire. Now this is a great thing because the wire is much more flexible than usual. This allows the moue to move around easily and not ever get held back by tugging. The wire allows the instantaneous latency of a wired mouse as opposed to the inaccuracy and the lag of wireless mice. Additionally, the connector is gold plated. This really doesn't make any difference at all, but it is a nice touch. There are two stickers on the bottom of the mouse. The scroll wheel of the mouse is a lighter color and a solid or flashing LED or various colors informs you of the DPI setting. One of the stickers on the bottom has a color key code to identify the corresponding DPI setting. However the other sticker, which is a reflective sticker surrounding the laser hole is beginning to peal off on my mouse after 6 months of use. I would rip it off but my brother informed me that it is somehow essential to the tracking of the laser. The feet on the mouse are nice, but I have had nicer. Additionally, it tracks great on any surface whether it is plain or decorated. I use it with a glass IceMat which I love wonderfully. Usefulness: The red button is called the Triple Shot. It will activate the main mouse button (left click) three times very fast. This is a great feature for First Person Shooters. For instance, in some games a semi-automatic weapon will effectively become an automatic weapon by continually pressing the triple shot. Alternatively, it can be used to fire off three carefully aimed shots very quickly. But if a weapon has a slower refire rate it may only fire twice and no faster than you could have yourself. Additionally, the button is place a little too far forward making it a bit of a reach. The DPI button is positioned perfectly. It allows you to easily change the DPI setting (sensitivity) in one click. Perhaps if someone was sniping and they wanted a less sensitive setting for the scope view. Or perhaps someone might prefer to have a lower DPI while doing normal computing and a higher DPI in gaming. The main advantage I found with this is it allows me to change the DPI setting without having to open any software windows. And furthermore, it allows me to change the DPI setting without even having to install the included drivers! The two alt fire buttons on the side are well placed. I do however, have a hard time reaching the more forward button on the mouse and I have large hands. These buttons can be programmed though the included drivers or simply by going into the games control settings and clicking change key and pressing the alt fire button - which is the way I did it. I choose not to use the included drivers because I did not want another program running in my system tray and the mouse works great with the standard windows drivers for input devices. However, the drivers do allow for macro commands. This means that you can program alt fire to execute a sting of hotkeys and mouse clicks. For instance, Alt 1 could be programmed when pressed to do a G and then left click and then G again and then left click again. In this example it could (depending on the game) pull out a grenade and throw it and then pull out another grenade and throw it - which would effectively cause your player to simultaneously throw two grenades by pressing one button. I'm sure there are many more uses to the macros but I chose to not use this feature and avoid the drivers. Overall: I love this mouse and it is much better than others I have used. As a note it's not as large as some other mice but I have large hands and don't have any problems with it. It is not ergonomical. Left handed gamers could use this mouse as it's basically the same either way. Although, there is a rubber thumb grip on the left side which may be unappealing to left handed users. I highly recommend this mouse to all gamers alike. Although the cost might be to high to some users, I believe that anyone spending a lot of time on their computer could appreciate this mouse whether they are a gamer or not. But most importantly this mouse really helped me to get a better kill to death ratio and improve my game! This mouse is a must have to any serious gamer!

This is the first gaming mouse i bought, so of course I was like oh this is hot. But as i start to play with it I had problems since you can only up the DPI then keep pressing it to start it back over since it has 6 different dpi settings. So yea if they made a way you can change the dpi so you can back up would be nice other than that i gave it a 4/5 xd.

I have been using this mouse for more than 2 years now. I am not a huge FPS gamer so I don't know how that mouse compares to gaming mouses but as a general purpose mouse, its the best one I used until now

This was the best mouse I have ever used. It was extremely comfortable and the 3x fire button was extrememly handy, not really for gaming but for quickly double clicking stuff and such. Every now and then I would use it in gaming but it was just a nice button and out of the way but easily accessible. It is no longer available but the A4 Tech 3xFire 2500 DPI Laser Gaming Mouse is available and it is the same mouse but not branded by OCZ. Only complaint was that the dpi switching had 5 modes, nice, but not convenient to switch on the fly or in game.

Just bought my 6th OCZ Equalizer only becuase I smash away when I have more than a 5 death streak LOL. Seriously, for the price you cannot go wrong with this mouse. It is precise, light, side buttons are in the right place for you to be as quick as possible to knife. the cord is longer and thinner than most out in the market. For some reason this mouse let's me be as deadly as possible using it in a FPS situation. For all other CPU tasks it works great. My wife likes it, and I can say that I love it. I can't think of any drawbacks other than it only takes a couple of swings and pieces start flying everywhere, the cord usally stays in tact though, if that helps you. Good Hunting RazorThin

Tracking is very smooth and the adjustable DPI button is very convenient. I don't like the location of the triple click button. Hard for my finger to reach. Excellent price, good value.

So what can I say about this mouse that is good? It costs about the same as a Logitech MX518 gaming mouse, so that's good. Also, OCZ tech support on their forums is great. I use there memory in both my machines. Now for the bad part. 1. Triple threat button is too far forward, so it's hard to hit. 2. I am color blind so the flashing scroll wheel (indicates DPI on the laser)was very hard to figure out. Plus you have to scroll through all 4 or 5 settings to get to the one before the current setting. 3. The forward and back buttons are backwards. They are physically turned around. The forward button is the farthest rearward button on the mouse, and the back button is up towards the wire. Every other mouse I have used that had this button configuration, had them the other way. I use the Back button lots more than I use the Forward button. 4. The actual laser is located too far back on the mouse. You have to actually pick your hand up to move the pointer a great distance, or use your finger tips. Most other mice the pointer is further away from the palm to facilitate moving it easier and more precisely. 5. The software because of how it was designed, causes my game to minimize to the desktop. Took me a minute but I figured this one out. The command in the software simulates me using keyboard strokes. So while I am in game sprinting (pushing my ALT key), if I hit the 4 or 5 button, it would minimize my game like switching open windows. So, the software isn't useful to me at all (cause it's a gaming mouse)... 6. This thing is way too light. If you just rub it with your finger it will slide completely off your desk. My other mice, won't do that. I think this helps players be accurate. So, I was extremely excited about getting this mouse. OCZ has always made quality products. I believe this mouse is a quality product, but the design needs some work. I don't think enough emphasis was placed on functionality. What happens in my extremely popular FPS game is proof of that. I think they would have figured out something else if they had done their research. If you are still partially willing to buy this mouse after reading my review.. Go to OCZ's forums on their website. Do some reading. You will see what I mean. I left a nice long post in their suggestions forum on this mouse.

I bought this mouse because it was advertised as a great ergonimic gaming mouse. It is not ergonimic, it is just longer than most. It is not great for gaming, it jumps all over the place and does not give you great control. I have tried adjusting it every way I can and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
