I am returning it (not Amazon's mistake!), December 27, 2009
This review is from: OCZ Rally2 Dual Channel 16 GB Flash USB 2.0 Flash Drive OCZUSBR2DC-16GB (Personal Computers)
I ordered a second OCZ Rally2 16GB here and expected the same model I ordered before from Amazon with the Silicon Motion DYNA-SM32X controller (VID 0325), but to my big disappointment was sent a model with a totally different (probably cheaper) controller inside the flash drive, Phison PS2232 from Russia (VID 13FE).
Unfortunately the current controller does NOT meet my expectations: in contrast to its previous controller (& firmware) it does NOT allow flipping the removable bit with Lexar BootIt or any other utility, which allowed my other Rally2 to
a) boot even on PCs that do NOT allow booting from removable drives (the majority only allows booting from USB hard disks).
b) be partitioned, in my case NTFS/ HFS+ journaled/ extFS2) and have all partitions visible not just in Mac OS X and Linux (those don't care too muchabout the RMB), but also in Windows.
In my opinion it is quite bold that there are still manufacturers who think that just because a device is small they can change even the most important center piece without noticeably changing the product revision for their resseller's sales pages. You buy a Ford and it has a Chrysler engine inside without ANY notice? No way - this is bad business practice. When you browse through Amazon etc. you will see MANY products where the revisioning is TRANSPARENT (rev.1, rev.2 etc.) because that's the Zeitgeist, what us customers may very well expect these days!
OCZ can NOT send me a Rally2 16GB with the controller I want because even they do not keep track of revisions right now/ so far.
After looking at all of this I can only leave a negative review here, hoping that this will speed up the necessary process that OCZ incorporates a working and transparent revision system like other companies already have it.
Still, if you want a fast read/write 16GB flash drive, this is it (or the Kingston HyperX).
I just filed a RMA and am returning the device.
Regards,
Lee Binder

Works Great, December 7, 2008
This review is from: OCZ Rally2 Dual Channel 16 GB Flash USB 2.0 Flash Drive OCZUSBR2DC-16GB (Personal Computers)
Have had this drive about a week and it works great.
Though they could have maybe molded the end to the shape of a Male USB so that you could put the cap there in while it's in use, I'm not docking it stars for that since I knew that going in and don't have much of a problem with caps.
I transferred 5.6 GBs (1800 files) in about 14 mins from a Kingston 8gb 2.0 drive to this drive via vista, so I don't understand the other review that says it took 2 hours for 9 GB, maybe that wasn't slotted in a 2.0 plug.
Very slim, very nice, not cheap feel to it, unlike plastic.

OCZ as always never let me down. Great price for an excelent Flash drive. Is faster than corsair voyager and i like the metal body and the slim form.
If you are looking for a Flash drive you must get this baby.
