I ordered a second OCZ Rally2 16GB here and expected the same model I ordered before from Amazon with the Silicon Motion DYNA-SM32X controller (VID 0325), but to my big disappointment was sent a model with a totally different (probably cheaper) controller inside the flash drive, Phison PS2232 from Russia (VID 13FE).
Unfortunately the current controller does NOT meet my expectations: in contrast to its previous controller (& firmware) it does NOT allow flipping the removable bit with Lexar BootIt or any other utility, which allowed my other Rally2 to a) boot even on PCs that do NOT allow booting from removable drives (the majority only allows booting from USB hard disks). b) be partitioned, in my case NTFS/ HFS+ journaled/ extFS2) and have all partitions visible not just in Mac OS X and Linux (those don't care too muchabout the RMB), but also in Windows. In my opinion it is quite bold that there are still manufacturers who think that just because a device is small they can change even the most important center piece without noticeably changing the product revision for their resseller's sales pages. You buy a Ford and it has a Chrysler engine inside without ANY notice? No way - this is bad business practice. When you browse through Amazon etc. you will see MANY products where the revisioning is TRANSPARENT (rev.1, rev.2 etc.) because that's the Zeitgeist, what us customers may very well expect these days! OCZ can NOT send me a Rally2 16GB with the controller I want because even they do not keep track of revisions right now/ so far. After looking at all of this I can only leave a negative review here, hoping that this will speed up the necessary process that OCZ incorporates a working and transparent revision system like other companies already have it. Still, if you want a fast read/write 16GB flash drive, this is it (or the Kingston HyperX). I just filed a RMA and am returning the device. Regards, Lee Binder

Have had this drive about a week and it works great.
Though they could have maybe molded the end to the shape of a Male USB so that you could put the cap there in while it's in use, I'm not docking it stars for that since I knew that going in and don't have much of a problem with caps. I transferred 5.6 GBs (1800 files) in about 14 mins from a Kingston 8gb 2.0 drive to this drive via vista, so I don't understand the other review that says it took 2 hours for 9 GB, maybe that wasn't slotted in a 2.0 plug. Very slim, very nice, not cheap feel to it, unlike plastic.

I have to admit I didn't really know what to expect from a 16G flash drive and I don't really follow what brands are "in" so this was a risky buy for me. I have to say I don't regret it the least bit. I have over 2000+ pictures on my computer that I didn't have a copy of along with all of my school files and I was almost sure that I would need at least 2 drives but after copying it all I found that I still have about half of the drive empty still. I was VERY impressed! Also, it copied all my files almost instantly. I think I maybe waited 20min. max for everything to transfer. Except my music folder I copied my entire My Documents folder over. I am so far VERY pleased with this piece of equipment and highly recommend it.

This is by far the quickest flash drive I've owned. It's worth the extra bucks for the speed alone. I use it to store photos and video. Highly recommended!

This is a nice fast drive. I mostly use it for moving around large DVD/HDD image files (installs, VMs, etc.) and it's fast enough to move things in and out without too much wait time. I keep it in my laptop bag - it doesn't feel sturdy enough for the keychain.
Problems: 1. The cap is too easy to slide off - I'm pretty certain I'll loose it soon :-) 2. Flimsy construction. Yes, it has an aluminium body, but it feels very thin and fragile. The main board assembly (the circuit board with the memory and the usb connector) is loose inside the aluminium body, you can feel and see it moving around in there and it feels like it's about to snap. Maybe it's just the one I got (anybody has the same problem?). I think I'll pry out the main board somehow and just fill it with silicone or something... Other than that - it's a good drive, so if you are not too clumsy and looking for a big fast drive - I'd recommend it. However, if you tend to drop stuff (and then step on it ;-), if you want to keep it on your key chain (you'll loose the cup for sure and it feels like it won't survive for more than a week) - look somewhere else.

I have been using this flash drive for over a month to transfer photoshop and illustrator files back and forth between the macs at school and my pc at home. I have never once had a problem. The slim design makes it easy to plug in both the drive and a wacom tablet. I would recommend this for any art student taking computer classes.

Its a flashdrive that also happens to be 16gb. But what makes it better is that its read/write times are a bit faster than the average. Rally2 is OCZ's middle line of flash drives.

OCZ Rally 2 16GB Review,

This review is from: OCZ Rally2 Dual Channel 16 GB Flash USB 2.0 Flash Drive OCZUSBR2DC-16GB (Personal Computers)
I've had the Rally 2 16GB usb drive for about a month now. It has performed extremely well. I had no expections of this usb drive as the only other one I have is a PNY 1GB (purchased roughly 3 years ago), and wasn't sure what to expect as far as speed. I used the PNY stricly as a backup. I needed the Rally 2 because I received a new laptop from my employer, to replace the original laptop issued to me. I discovered that, with personal files and music included, the amount I needed to transfer totalled 9.3GB. The Rally 2 allowed me to transfer all files in one step, and it only took about 2 hrs to copy everything to the drive. I have been using the Rally 2 as alternate storage, not just a backup. I purchased this drive, knowing about the common problems with usb drives and losing their caps. I find if I just put the cap back on slowly, it seems to stay on firm enough. I am completely happy with this drive thus far .
