difficult to use this small of a drive; reads much faster than writes,

This review is from: OCZ Technology 30 GB Agility Series SATA II 2.5 Inch Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-1AGT30G (Personal Computers)
I decided to leap into an OCZ SSD drive, to improve my system performance. Here's what I've noticed:
* 30GB is barely enough for Windows 7 and all of my programs. I had to do a special procedure to mount another drive to the /users directory, and compress the whole SSD drive. Everything runs so fast despite the goof of getting only 30GB, and having to compress. * The read speed is about 3-5 times faster than the write speed. This is not true of IBM SSD drives, which have a more even, but slightly slower, performance, and cost more per GB, as of the last time I checked. * I've had to chkdsk once already, when I was doing something extreme, my system hung and wouldn't boot after that. Be prepared to use a solid backup system, and you'll be fine. * It says it will run umpteen million hours on the box, but who knows. That number of hours hasn't gone by since the beginning of the manufacture of the drive, so it is really a marketing number. * 30GB is actually 30GB, not 30,000,000,000 bytes. (30x1024x1024x1024) Of course, when you format it, it loses some space to the file system, but not much. Tip: Don't defragment the drive, it works fine fragmented, and if you do, you can shorten the life of it. Tip #2: You don't need to flash the firmware: It comes with Rev 1.5, which is more modern than rev 1.4 on their website (as of April 9th, 2010) It's really OK to treat it like a normal drive, except you do need to have a backup almost daily (just in case), which on my system, takes less than 10 minutes for 30GB. Good luck, and full speed ahead!

I purchased 3 of these for a Raid 0 array for my desktop..My specs. are -
Cooler Master HAF 932 case MSI k9n2 platinum sli motherboard AMD Phenom2 x4 -965 Black Edition overclocked to 3.92ghz Corsair 750watt power supply 3 x OCZ Agility SSD hard drives - Operating system Drive and a few programs 1 - 500 Seagate hard drive - Game and media drive,Files ect.. 4 x 2gb OCZ Reaper 1066 memory 8gb total 2 x 9800GTS Evga Videocards in SLI - mild overclock on both cards Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit operating system This is being cooled with a custom water cooling setup. Now for my reviews of the OCZ agiity SSD hard drives.. Now for the only downside..They weren't free.... The SSD prices are comeing down slowly. Until they are the main stream the price will stay up. Once past the bios screen and the windows screen comes up I am at the desktop and working in 6 seconds.. My total boot time with the bios and raid detection screen is under 15 seconds.. All of the programs that are loaded is instant. There is NO lag or Skipping with these drives at all.. I would recomend this drive to any one.. The price keeps going up and don so make sure youo check back oftem..
