The first unit I received was DOA. Bummer. Vertex replaced it promptly. Unfortunately, the second unit failed completely after a month in use - while I was traveling and working on time sensitive projects. Even though I have image backups, I had to cancel a trip and return home to replace my hard drive and restore it. If I hadn't had the image backup on Windows Home Server I would have been truly hosed. At this point, even if this unit is replaced under warranty I would never trust data to it another one of these drives. Too bad, the performance was great. If you're looking for an SSD, keep looking, there's nothing here.

Great performance while it works, but failure rates are ridiculously high.

Unless you enjoy playing russian roulette with your data I would go with the intel G2. Bought two of these in a raid0 and really really regret it after the first one died after 1 month. Forums are full of other poor saps like me. Being stuck with 800 dollars in drives you can't trust your data on really sucks.

Four days after install I received a "Loading DMI pool data hang up." at boot. Luckily I had a recovery floppy and a secondary working computer to search my issue. Could have been something I did? Everything is back running fine ever since the fix. This is an upgrade from my (2) 74gb Raptor Raid 0 configuration that I've had for the past 2 years. I've had the product for about a month now. I partitioned the drive for my Win7 64 bit OS (30 GB), Programs (3 GB), and Games (55 GB).

Noticeable stuff so far: Computer boots faster, programs and games load faster, and encoding video is a little quicker. I cannot take full advantage of this product as my EVGA nForce 680i SLI Mainboard 122-CK-NF68-AR does not have the AHCI option, (checked MSI FAQ) which I guess makes it even faster from what I have read in the reviews for Solid State Drives. I would recommend making sure your motherboard supports the AHCI option in the BIOS to take full advantage of the speed. Not a huge deal, but if you are spending this kind of money, you'd want to make sure this thing was running as fast as it was meant to run.

I would still recommend this product, as it has been a nice speed upgrade for my computer and I've been satisfied so far.

Like the title says, even tho I have owned this drive for almost a year now, I have only been using it for a couple of weeks now, and so far so good, check back this review, as I update some of my reviews every few months, this one will be updated for sure.

I bought the 200GB incarnation of this which seems to have vanished from amazon. It worked for about 4 hours then died with my data. Took it to all the local computer shops/gurus who all examined it and said my data was gone forever.
Three cheers (and 5 stars) to amazon for making the return/refund very smooth. I would not trust this OCZ with any data that is not backed up... ever.

I purchased this drive about a year ago as an upgrade to the stock mechanical HDD in my Lenovo 410. This drive was blazing fast, and made my already fast Ubuntu install run even faster.

Unfortunately, tonight it died. And despite replication to the cloud, it took some vital schoolwork with it.

It was an all out failure of the drive. The BIOS on all machines can no longer see the drive. Likely something related to powering the drive, or the subsystem that interfaces with the computer.

When I purchased the drive, I was under the impression that I was getting bargain; but in retrospect it was no bargain. In my work computer, I am using an Intel, and it has not failed in the last two years.

Not much to say other than this drive is ABSURDLY fast... Absolutely worth every penny. Windows 7 boots in about 10 seconds. Once I login with my password, my desktop is loaded and settled (that is, all my systray icons are loaded and operating) within five seconds -- and I did not reinstall Windows when I got this drive (I Ghosted the drive from my old 7200rpm SATA drive). If I reinstall, I expect the performance would be even better still. SSD is clearly the future.

This drive is super fast and makes a great boot drive. Programs load extremely fast. I have this drive along with a 1 TB data drive. You couldn't get a better combo than this.

Drive is very fast, and makes Windows snappy. The only downside is that aligning the partition on the drive for optimal performance in Windows XP is tricky (I used diskpar followed by Drive Snapshot to clone my existing partition onto an aligned SSD partition)

Sorry for the all caps... These things were (at the time, not any more) tantalizingly fast, and despite a few people saying that they are not reliable, I bought one anyway. I am now returning my second one to OCZ for replacement. Both died without warning, basically disappearing from the BIOS and becoming $300 paperweights. It is no joke, they die ALL THE TIME. I'm hoping OCZ will run out of this 'limited edition' sooner or later and we will get different parts for replacement.

I've got a great backup thing going, so it's not a big deal for me. But if you decide to buy this, or bought one already, make sure you have awesome and current backups. EACH BOOT COULD BE YOUR LAST.
