1.0 out of 5 stars Mine died too.
There were a couple of reviews stating that theirs died a very quick death. Well mine did too. Fortunately it was within Amazon's return window.

I bought this drive off of the market here on Amazon. It was a steal so when it arrived DOA I was disappointed but figured I'd just have to trade the money I saved for some of my time. It looks like OCZ had an unfortunate run of firmware when this drive came out, until 1.10 it seems there was a bug that caused low power modes to put the drives into panic mode which, to an end user, means a dead drive. Fortunately it seems I got my drive at just the right time. Firmware 1.10 seems to have addressed the low power mode bugs and even better firmware 1.11 is out now and it looks like the only changes are SMART monitoring fixes and other non-reliability issues.

I was impressed at how smoothly OCZ's RMA process went. They didn't question if I was the original purchaser. They didn't ask what I did to break it. They just shipped a replacement drive the day they received mine.

The speeds are incredible, as expected.

Bought this drive and an OCZ Technology 60 GB Agility Series. The Agility 60GB has worked flawlessly, the 200 GB Vertex Limited Edition on is useless the first one was DOA the replacement lasted less then 15 days now it also is dead. I will see if I can get it to work but so far it is not looking good. I'm not a newbie ether, been building and repairing computers since the early 80's. Time to look elsewhere for a replacement. 1.0 out of 5 stars unreliable, August 22, 2010
This review is from: OCZ Technology 200 GB Vertex Limited Edition 2.5-Inch SATAII Solid State Drive OCZSSD2-1VTXLE200G (Personal Computers)
I am presently on to my third drive, the first died within 24 hours and the second after ~ 3 months. The cost of ownership has also included shipping costs for the last replacement which was sent directly from San Jose (brokerage fees and tax - I live in Canada) even though I returned the defective drive to OCZ in Canada. The online RMA process was unexpectedly complex (OCZ required details of the motherboard/chipset/voltages etc). Turn around time was 3 weeks. Not a good experience.

I've been building computers for years and after reading several tech site reviews, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and buy this ssd. I had really high hopes for this drive before I purchased, however user reviews on Newegg and Amazon are very negative citing alot of defects. I should have listened to the user reviews. The drive worked fine for a grand total of just 1 day! Now it is totally dead and doesn't even show up in the bios. Tried 2 different computers and both weren't able to see the ssd anymore. I'm returning it to Amazon for a refund. SSD's just aren't ready for primetime yet. I'm gonna stick with my WD Velociraptor until they are. Stay away from this drive!

I bought 3 -- all failed (unrecognized by BIOS) in a week. Without fuss, OCZ sent me replacements -- this time the ordinary OCZ Vertex 2 (not the Limited Edition). So far have not had time to see if the new ones work.
