OCZNoctim SATA SSDs are the ideal upgrade for the latest notebooks and desktop systems with limited storage space. Unlike a standard drive, OCZNoctim SATA are smaller with no outer casing, making it a cost-effective solid state storage solution. I have purchased two of these ssd's in the last 6 months and ultimately both have died.

On paper the OCZ SSD seems like an ideal product: the speed and performance of an SSD with the form factor of a stick of ram. However my experience with this product has been less than pleasing. I bought my first drive in February 2012 it installed easily on my mother board, a micro itx board with an mSATA port designed for ssd. Initially the performance of the device was phenomenal Windows loaded in instants and applications that used to struggle in on my less than great i5 chip got a nice boost to push them into usable territory.

I was pleased enough with the initial drive that when asked to build a machine for a friend I ordered it again. That is where the trouble started. the drive that arrived in my second order was DOA. Completely DOA it failed to be recognized by any of the various media I plugged it into, ultimately in the interest of time I sent it back. I did not think much of this issue because my primary drive was still functioning flawlessly.

However two months later the drive simply stopped loading. This was not a power surge or other issue the small desktop sat on my desk untouched as it always had and one day simply would not boot. Getting a bad drive is nothing new to me but two bad drives ordered moths apart is a little much... 150 bucks is a little steep for a drive that only worked for 4 months. buyer beware

Sigh....

I would highly recommend this to anyone with an Acer W500 Windows tablet as an upgrade to the original 32GB SSD drive. Installs quickly and loaded Windows 7 in half the time as original drive. It scores a 7.6 WEI from the original 5.9 score. It's running Windows 8 flawlessly and is quick and snappy. Definitely worth the buy at this price.

I have been using this mSATA SSD on my Lenovo Y470 for over 8 weeks now and it has been working great - even though on the AS SSD benchmark the read/write performance (uncompressed data) doesn't look that great, in real-world use this SSD feels faster than some of my other older 2.5" SSDs from Kingston and Intel. Given the low price high recommend this one.

I was a bit worried something would go wrong trying to install this card and use it to run the main operating system. Installing it on the Lenovo X220 required only a small screwdriver. It was extremely easy. The BIOS recognized it right away and I only needed to choose it as the main boot device. The installation of Windows 7 from USB stick was performed in less than half an hour. The only complicated part was installing the network drivers, as I could not download them from a fresh installation, as the network was not working at all. Other than that, the whole process took less than two hours, mainly installing back the drivers from the Lenovo website, and now this little laptop is really really fast. For the price, this upgrade is a must if you know how to do it.

Got this to replace the standard SanDisk 32 GB SSD and it works perfectly. After removing the back cover (took it slow and steady), the drive went right in. I cloned the new disk before making the swap and Windows started right up. Afterwards I expanded the volume to utilize all the space and it runs like a champ. The drive is much faster with the Windows Experience score for the drive going from 5.9 to 7.6. This is the best upgrade I could have made for my Acer w500.

I was hesitate to buy due to a lot of blue screen story reported on this drive. But it turned out a great buy. Works great in my ThinkPad X220. I have both BIOS and SSD running on latest firmware. Windows 7 experience index for this disk is 7.7 (0-7.9 rating). The mSata form factor allows me to keep my large HDD which is fantastic!

Update 8/5/2012: 3 months plus, there isn't a single issue with this drive!

I installed this item next to my HDD in Thinkpad T420s. And I kept getting BSOD 0x0000004F. FW, BIOS updates haven't helped. OS (Win7) reinstall didn't help either.
