4.0 out of 5 stars An excellant History of an ancient & important Irish clan, November 12, 2001
This review is from: O'Dea - Ua Deaghaidh: The Story of a Rebel Clan (Hardcover)
A must buy for all people who have connections with the surnames O'Dea, Dee, O'Day or even Godwins of Irish ancestory. All these surnames origionally come from the one Irish Gaelic surname of Ó Déaghaidh.

The author and archaeologist Risteárd Ua Cróinín has wrote a great book on the history of this great county Clare(Irish) clan that stretches from the clans times in ancient Scythia and Egypt thousands of years ago right up to the the many battles the O'Dea clan had with the Normans(English) and fellow Gaelic(Celtic) clans, right up to the present day. Besides the history and the illustrations he discribes the many artifacts that are still found in the O'Dea clan territory to this day such as the high cross, the Celtic monastary, ring forts, the round tower and the newly restored castle of Dysert O'Dea, the seat of the O'Dea clan.
