I had to take my pitman arm off three times in one day off my GMT400 2500 suburban, don't ask why. This puller stayed the course and is still a solid unit that I would trust again and again to the same kind of abuse, which btw included an airpowered impact wrench pounding on it each time, off and on.

I bought this tool as a "Hail Mary" to remove the spindle on my 94 thru 04 Mustang. The claws simply did not have enough grip on the spindle, like maybe a tenth inch of grip on each side. There wasn't enough material and so it broke some of the material away.

That's not the part's fault. The part is well made and strong. Just don't buy one thinking it will work on a Mustang.

No problem removing pitman arm from my 86 Monte Carlo SS. People complain about their arm not coming off and tool broke, but make sure you tap the arm with a hammer when you feel it's tight to turn the bolt. Do this every time it gets tight and you should have no problem.

I don't know why they blame it on the tool. Use it right, and you should have no problem.

It may work in some circumstances, but on a 20 year old rusty pitman arm (which is why you need something like this) it's going to just bend. I had to use a clamp to keep the jaws from sliding off from being bent and a blow torch on the pitman arm. One use and in the trash.

Nice tool, make sure you oil the bolt before using.
I used this to remove my lower ball joints on a 1997 Toyota 4runner.
Note: The tool was too big for the tie rod joints.

This bent on the first use, even after tightening it to the point of bending and tapping the pitman arm with a hammer, it wouldn't budge.
