I have replaced brakes for almost 30 years. I always used a C-clamp and a block of wood to compress the piston(s) when replacing disc brakes. A couple of months ago I was replacing the disc brakes on my son's 2000 Mustang and discovered I needed a screw in disc brake tool to do the rear brakes. Luckily I was able to rent an OEM set at a local Auto parts store to complete the job. I'm not in the habit of renting especially when I can buy an affordable tool set. In comes Amazon. I bought the OEM 27111 Disc Brake Tool Set in June 2011. Well, I replaced the disc brakes on my 2001 Ford Explorer today (July 31, 2011) and I finally had a chance to use this set. I am impressed. After I was done the only thing I could say was I wish I had bought a set like this sooner. The forcing plate is shaped to fit inside the caliper and the round piston plate fit perfectly over the piston making compression a breeze. No more fumbling and trying to find the best place to anchor a C-clamp and a block of wood to compress the piston. I will never use a block of wood and a C-clamp again. This is a must have tool set for anyone who does their own brakes. This is a quality set and reasonably priced. I absolutely love it and wish I had purchased a set like this sooner.

This tool is made for one purpose. No need in making frilly assessments and indepth descriptions. I bought it for one purpose and that is to recess the piston in the rear brake caliper on my two cars (Honda Accord and Honda Civic) and it does that exactly as I need it. My first attempt at using the tool was today and it worked perfectly.

The craftmanship and quality of the tool is very good. I definitely have no complaints. I feel very comfortable in saying that I am sure I'll be using this for quite a long time.

Glad I bought it!

Did not know about this until after I started by brake job. With any japanese car with rear disc brakes, this work much better than the 'cube' type tool to rotate rear calipers back. With the cube type tool, there is no leverage to push on. This set has multiple size plates to work with my 4 cars.

I rented one of these from a local parts store after struggling to compress the rear pistons on a Mazda... Made the rear pad replacement very easy. I've previously managed front calipers by using the handle of a mallet to push the piston back into the caliper, but using this was so much quicker. Since I regularly do my own pads I decided to order one of these tools to have as my own. There is a cheaper set on here that includes a reverse threaded tool as well but I decided to go with this one since I know it works and I figure it must be decent quality for places to rent it out.

I have a Volkswagen Passat. When I went to change the rear brakes, I could not find a tool to reseat the calipers. I went to find a tool and Volkswagen wanted 125 dollars for one that only works with this car. I then searched around and found this tool kit, which works with many different models of cars. I have two others cars that also have rear disc brakes that I can use this tool on. This tool also works on the front calipers and is much easier to use than using a C clamp. Great tool well worth the price. It will pay for itself many times over.

I got exactly what I ordered from amazon. The product is exactly what I rented from an auto part store to do my brakes on my G6. I decided to buy one since I always do my own brakes on my car and SUV, and amazon had the same one for a good price. I like the fact it's for both regular disc brakes and screw rear brakes, which I have on my G6. The product seems to be of high quality material, which interested me in the first place.

Worked perfectly when replacing the rear brakes on my 02' Mustang. I wasted trips buying different parts for the job from my local auto parts store until I broke down and purchased this set from Amazon. After receiving this set I was able to change my brake pads easily and in a fraction of the time!

My dad always said there are some things a man's got to do for himself when it comes to his car. Change your own oil. Change your own brake pads. He was the kind of guy who would always try to figure out how to fix something on his own before he went and called the professionals. Sometimes it worked out great...sometimes, not so much, as with the Tant Family Basement Flood of '74.

Back to the subject at hand...changing brake pads is a pretty easy though sometimes labor-intensive process. You get dirty. But when you're finished, you saved yourself some cash, and that's a good thing. When Dad taught me it was with a wood plank and a big old C clamp (which I still have...). But this set of tools makes it SO much easier, so much so that I retired the C clamp. And to be clear, if you are working on a vehicle with the integrated parking brake (where the caliper piston screws in and out instead of going in straight), then this tool is pretty much required. Everything you need to take care of that piston is in this case. I've not run across a car yet where I didn't have the right size plate. And this tool is built to last, made of solid and good quality steel.

This is seriously the last kit you'll ever need to buy. A very good product.
