This review is from: OES Genuine Brake Booster for select Mazda Tribute models (Automotive)
These boosters appear to "wear out" on the Tributes, announcing their impending demise by "rewarding" the driver and passengers with an incessant hissing whilst driving. The local dealer wanted to charge me $90 to run a diagnostic only to tell me ... the booster needs to be replaced. Duh! Then wanted to charge another $300 to purchase one and replace it. Yeah, right...

Despite the (many) issues with the Tribute, I find them fairly easy to work on. Ordered this, and got it about 3 weeks (had to ship to a friend in the states, who forwarded it to Guam: they don't ship to Guam directly). Had the car reassembled in about 45 minutes: after a little "convincing", it went in right where it should. Had to compensate for the slightly shortened pedal rod on the new booster (as compared to the one I pulled out of there) by bending the support bracket which holds the brake and cruise-control cut-off switches (so that they actually work when the foot is off the pedal). Probably not a standard fix, but it worked.

If you are a reasonably competent DIYer, can find and follow the service manual online, and despise being ripped off by "repair" people, these are pretty easy to install, and the part does what it should.
