This is the perfect size for sealing up the remaining pasta from the spaghetti, angel hair, or linguine size boxes. (I don't love that those boxes never close properly:) I cannot imagine using this for anything other than that, however. It is an odd size otherwise: it could be awkward scooping out flour, sugar or grains--it is tall and narrow as pictured.
