Product Description

No-Shock Baby and Toddler Safety Helmet is a cute and comfortable protective helmet ideal for babies learning to crawl or walk. No-Shock also helps protect the head from sharp furniture corners. Its breathable Santitized® polyester lining prevents the formation of mold or bacteria. No Shock fits kids 8-20 months and adapts to the shape of the child's head, thanks to its adjustability and reticulated polyolefin foam material. When the helmet's visor is raised, it provides additional protection of the nasal septum. Our son has hemophilia and is super active. At 6 months he could already stand himself up along the sofa. We have tile floors so were becoming more and more concerned as he tried new things. This item offers extra protection that we need to help prevent a bleed. We also like the look of it, more like a hat/jockey helmet, than a piece of medical equipment.

Helmet really protects toddler's head from bumps. It is also easy to clean. I put it in the washer and dryer and it is ready in no time.

My baby didn't know how to bend his knees and fall on his butt when he was first walking. He would get scared, stiffen-up, and fall back. Needless to say, that was a worrisome time for us. So glad I found this helmet. We still had to watch him carefully, but it helped a lot, and my little one looked adorable in it, and actually loved wearing it!

This might be a good product for a kid who doesn't try to pull it off their own head. Unfortunately, we'll never know, because my daughter figured out how to undo the velcro strap in about 5 seconds. I put it back on her head, and then she found yet another way to slide it off, this time without even undoing the strap. Five seconds or less each time. She does seem to enjoy playing with it and carrying it around, though. Me putting it back on her, and her finding different ways to pull it off was a fun game for a few minutes. Not really worth the money just for that, though! If your kid likes to wear hats and doesn't try to pull them off, this might work for you.

I do understand the desire to not be over protective. However I like the helmet because it is not a matter of *if* your child will fall and smack their head, not a matter of *if* they will face plant, but *when*. I had a relative wondering just how badly their child scrambled their brain when their child's fall put a small (temporary) dent and large bruise on his head. Wanting to minimize the chances of that happening, I bought the helmet and so far it works well. The chin strap doesn't bother my child most of the time. If the strap does, I just put the strap over the top and the adjustable helmet fits firmly enough to stay put (most of the time.) The helmet does retain some heat, so be cognizant of cooling your child---for example, I don't have my son in the helmet 24/7, just certain falling risk periods so to speak. So far he has taken a few tumbles and bopped his head while wearing the helmet. He a hasn't cried yet when he hits his head while wearing the helmet. He certainly has cried when he has bumped his head without. Not exactly scientific evidence, I know, but that is something I've noticed. My son also likes to chase down our cats and grab their fur. One cat took a swipe at him, but the helmet saved his forehead from a cat slap.

I ended up selling this thing to a friend of mine after I got done with it. It may not be necessary for every baby but it prevents a lot of bruises / injuries for those that have issues walking / sitting upright. It is washable, soft, durable, and looks like a jockey helmet. I used it for a portrait once and people never knew it was just a helmet.

The chin strap didn't attach securely enough to keep it on my child's head. He only had to pull it a little for it to detach. It was also difficult to get the fit right with a wiggling baby and all that velcro, but this probably would have gotten better had it been "broken in" more/less stiff.

When my 12 month old grandson started to walk, he was falling a lot and hitting his head pretty hard. I ordered this and he wore it for about a week. By then, he was much more steady on his feet and didn't need it. So I would say this is handy but only will be used a short time.
