An amazing reel for the price.
I bought this at a gas station/sporting goods store near my home. Admittedly, I bought it because of the way it looked and because it was the nicest reel I could afford.
This is my first high quality reel, but it perfect as far as I can tell. The drag is not hard to set, it is just VERY delicate when new. The first few big fish you get in will break the drag...

Test the drag
Wish I could give a better review, because the reel looks like a bulldog next to all the other standard coffee grinders in the display case. I purchased the Trio 20 from Sport Chalet and had it strung up with a $20 spool of flouro. Playing with it when I got home, I tested the drag and sure enough it was gummed up, sticky, and far from smooth. Took it back the Chalet, and...

This is my first high quality reel, but it perfect as far as I can tell. The drag is not hard to set, it is just VERY delicate when new. The first few big fish you get in will break the drag in so you can set it easier, my recommendation would buy some strong line until you figure yours out. It is incredibly smooth.
I don't understand what the guy with the A20 was talking about but my A30 is great.

Works great, April 11, 2011
This review is from: OKUMA TRIO SPINNING REEL MED TRIO-30 (Misc.)
Don't know if the 1 star guy just happen to get a dud or not. This Trio definitely worth the money and even better than some of the higher end model. Only reason I don't give the 5 stars it's because I've only used these for about 2 months. Works great still even when I grind some sand in it by accident.

Test the drag, May 16, 2010
This review is from: OKUMA TRIO SPINNING REEL MED TRIO-30 (Misc.)
Took it back the Chalet, and I had the fishing 'expert' check it out as well, and we both agreed that I'd lose fish with the drag system the way it was out of the box. I tried the same spool on another reel at the store, and the same problem persisted. Don't know if I bought a lemon, but I didn't even get it close to the water before returning it. I'd like to hope it was a dud, but buyer beware. I'd definitely check it out at a store before committing to it online. Happy fishing.
