After running out, I ordered another bottle, but this time, the smell was horrible.

Olbas oil does not smell sweet...it's supposed to be Super strong, and a few drops in a humidifyer will open the lungs of everyone in the room.

Whatever this is...it is NOT Olbas oil. I actally had some olbas oil from my grandparents who live in England, and that stuff is Amazing. Since I was running out, I ordered a new bottle, and thought it looked different because it was newer. What I got was some cute, sweet smelling, pepermint oil in a blue bottle. Olbas oil does not smell sweet...it's supposed to be Super strong, and a few drops in a humidifyer will open the lungs of everyone in the room. This blue bottle stuff smells like it should be a dessert! I searched high and low, and finally found the real thing (ordered from London) which also cost a Fraction of what this blue bottle nonsense did. It's got an orange label...buy that instead.

The product page describes the 'Herbal Bath' as "completely natural essential oil formula" however the first ingredients include Cocamidopropyl Betaine (which is a synthetic surfactant according to the EWG.org website), Sodium Coceth Sulfate, PEG-40 Glycerol Cocoate, and PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides. I am particularly concerned about the PEG class of ethylene glycol polymers included in this formula after researching it online.

While there are certainly "natural essential oils" included in the formula (at the bottom of the ingredients list), the formula is clearly not "completely natural" as advertised. I'll just stick with putting a few drops of essentially oils straight into the bath without all the unnecessary chemical foaming agents!

Good stuff. First of all it arrived on time and was packaged properly. It works although only for the short term; 10-15 minutes. However that's what I was looking for in this product.

I have used Olbas oil for just about everything that ailed my family for over 30 years. Sinus and nose stuffiness, of course, but also skin rashes and eruptions have been treated with just a drop or two. Now the latest, and to me, a Godsend - I now wear hearing aids, and was finding that my ear molds would smell musty if inserted while the ear canal was still damp. A quick swipe of an Olbas moistened Q-tip not only takes care of the mustiness; it also lubricates the ear mold to make it easier to insert!

The first bottle I purchased worked wonders on my stuffy nose...no doubt. After running out, I ordered another bottle, but this time, the smell was horrible. Not sure what the difference is, but being oil, could this simply be an old batch that's gone rancid?

I'm a little leary of purchasing another bottle...maybe that horrible smell is the right smell, and my first bottle was the "off" bottle.

If you have not yet discovered Olbas, you will be very pleasantly surprised. I like to put it on my temples in the morning to help me wake up, sometimes I will inhale it in a pot of warm water, and sometimes I use it for massage. It is a deep penetrating oil that really wakens up your cells and is very refreshing. My wife uses it for foot baths.

I've been using Olbas bath for fifteen years or so and find it relaxes me like no other "aromatherapy" product can do. Since it is all natural, there are no artificial/chemical smells mingling with whatever scented nonsense is going on with Bath & Body Works stuff ... or even Body Shop bath suds.

Anyway, it is absolutely true that this oil or Olbas bath work great for congestion but I discovered over the weekend that they also work miraculously well for nausea. After looking online for help with nausea, I noticed that mint and clove oils are supposed to be effective scents against nausea and Olbas has both of these. I came upon the discovery accidentally, though:

I had a headache that became so bad that I became very very sick to my stomach ... I crawled from the front of the house into the bathroom and laid my head on the side of the bathtub, where I had earlier taken an Olbas bath. There was still a faint scent of Olbas in the tub and, much to my surprise, the nausea went away immediately. W00t! When I left the bathroom, my nausea returned. So, I took another bath ... no nausea! When I got out of the bath, I felt sick again. : But a dab of Olbas oil under my nose fixed me right up and I was able to get to bed without feeling sick to my stomach. The headache was still bothersome, but it seemed less, too.

It seems like this might not work for all types of nausea (food poisoning seems unlikely to be helped by Olbas, but who knows?!), but I'd recommend trying this to anyone.

I have loved Olbas Oil for years but I could not find it in my area. It works in so many ways. Sore muscles are gone when I rub this on. Also if I have a cold and rub this on my chest, it makes me feel better.
