Sarah Albee writes children's books for many age groups and under a number of pseudonyms. She has had three of her books appear on the New York Times Bestseller list. Before she began her career as a children's book writer and editor, Sarah was a newspaper cartoonist and a semi-professional basketball player. These days she lives in Connecticut with her husband and three children.

Hated the I Can Read format (Love Olivia!),

The I Can Read format is clearly meant for teaching children to read, but it would seem to destroy the pleasure of reading for anyone who can already read short words. Completely disrupts the flow of the story to have to look at the symbols for Cat, Olivia, Francine, etc instead of just reading the words.
I'll admit, though, I don't even have kids - I just like Olivia!! So this might actually work well to teach children to read. But if you can already read, the format is irritating and distracts too much from the story.

My grandchildren love this book! The 7 yr old loves reading to his 5 yr old sister! It's very colorful and the writing is large so the kids don't have any problem reading!
