I've had this ruler for over a decade. It took me a little bit to get used to using the lip correctly, but once I did -- I stopped using any of my other rulers. This is made of very thick heavy duty plastic, and even after 10+ years mine looks new. I've done those midnight epic sewing sessions where you end up running your blade across the ruler wrong -- still no chips, gouges, or other signs of wear. My mother in law recently started quilting after years of scrapbooking. Guess what she's getting ;)

Love this ruler for cutting my quilting strips. The lip is made into the body of the ruler. I have another ruler with a lip but the lip is detachable so I worry that the lip has shifted a bit which would not allow my strips to be perfectly straight when cutting them. When I lost my first O'Lipfa, I immediately ordered another one from Amazon, that's how much I depend on my O'Lipfa.

These cutting guides were shown at a quilt meeting recently, and the speaker even brought a few from her shop to sell. I didn't get in line fast enough. :) I got a better deal on Amazon. These make accurate cutting so much easier - and safer. I have had rulers slip too many times. I would definitely recommend these rulers to other crafters, whether they are cutting fabric or paper.

This ruler is okay if your cutting project is lined up perfectly on your cutting mat and a perfect edge available to hook the edge over. Mine isn't always perfect in this way and I found myself always flipping it over to use the non-lipped edge. I finally bought another brand without the lip edge. Personal preference.

I was borrowing my mother's O'lipfa straight edge ruler for the past few months and LOVED it! So I decided to buy my own. I use it with an Alvin Self-Healing mat (which is great!) Although this is the same brand as my mother's (hers is an older one so it looks a little different) I am pretty disappointed with this ruler. The "lip" edge isn't straight across, so when I place it on my mat, it doesn't line up! it's off by just a hair, but that's a big deal, since the whole point is to cut out an accurate square! I'm hoping I can return it.

Whoever made this ruler is cockeyed. The lip which I depend on a great deal is crooked. When I align the lip of the ruler up with the edge of my cutting mat (and NO my cutting mat is not off) and align the ruler on the fabric the ruler is off by an 1/8" at the top, which means I really have to hold the ruler tight to make sure it doesn't slip over. I will probably toss this out to go to the Goodwill and hope a new unexperienced quilter doesn't get it and wonder why their blocks are off. I ONLY USE rulers with lips and always from O'Lipfa but this one failed miserably

I had the original one and gave it to my daughter-in-law to encourage when she started using rotary cutters. I really loved that ruler. This one is almost as good but it is not as easy to read the markings and the end has so many small squares it's hard to tell where the inch markings are when you get down there. Other than that it would get a 5 star rating.
