OMRON HBF-512S FULL BODY SENSOR BODY COMPOSITION MONITOR & SCALE

I have had the Omron Hbf-512S Full Body Composition Monitor & Scale for only a week now - purchased thru Amazon / Gizmo's for Life. It looks sharp and I'm very happy with the unit. It arrived on the earliest date in the estimated delivery in perfect condition. It was easy to set up but I did discover two quirks.

- First you have to wait 24 hours after your initial profile entry to see it in memory (it does say 1 day ago - so that was really just a "worked as advertised" issue).

- Secondly, if you weigh yourself with the handgrip in the holder, you weigh 1.2 lbs. less than when your holding the control head in your hands as its weight is not included. When it is in your hands, the reading is 1.2 lbs. higher. Not really a malfunction, I think all the Omron handgrips work this way. I'm just surprised it didn't mention that in the manual. As in item #1, its not really a demerit just an adjustment that should be mentioned by the manufacturer. I mean - they did test this thing didn't they?

The manual doesn't address either of these issues nor does it with any of the units on the Omron website. But then, the Omron Hbf-512S isn't even mentioned on the company website.

The scale is very lightweight, accurate and quick; all the measurements work as advertised. They do seem a little high (my body age always comes up as 80 - the max & I'm only 56) but then I am overweight and in poor shape. At least the unit doesn't fault out when the body age shows up as max. Other Omron units allegedly have had that glitch.

This device tells the ugly truth & isn't designed to flatter. It always reads everything fairly accurately and is consistently close to what the previous day's reading showed. It is very useful for trend analysis and for seeing just how far in or out of shape you are.

I think this scale is really great but I only gave it 4 stars for support issues: i.e. - the two omissions in the manual (see above) and the fact that the company website doesn't have any info on this newer model. Shame on you Omron - get a new IT guy or spank your marketing manager! Amazon.com performed flawlessly as expected.

The Omron Hbf-5125 is a great sensory scale. It has whole body composition and progress tracking for more than one person! Easy to use and has measurements right down to one tenth of a pound increments. It also does an analysis of your body and compares it to what age your body's current condition is. It blows bathroom scales out of the water. I have tried many doctor office scales and this is a wonderful comparision if not better.

I bought this scale 2 months ago and I have to say I'm not happy with it. Lately it's been giving me an error message every time I grip the monitor to measure my BMI and body fat? I'm very healthy and not over weight at all and I don't know why this error 4 message shows up every time I used it.
I don't recommended buying this scale it's expensive and doesn't worth the money!
