2 channel stereo receiver,

This review is from: ONKYO TX-8511 Stereo Receiver - REFURBISHED (Electronics)
When my 10 yr old JVC $200 stereo receiver dropped 1 channel, I figured that it would probably cost more to fix that it was worth. Info on the Internet indicated that the Onkyo TX-8511 receiver was one of the few remaining 2 channel stereos left on the market. I was prepared to pay the full price for one, but found that it had been discontinued; it was only available as a refurbished unit that carried the new unit warranty. After some thought, I bought the refurbished unit. Not a single problem; it took a little time to set things up, but not nearly a difficult as the old JVC. I recommend this to anyone who doesn't need multiple channels; it's a winner. The remote control is vastly superior to the old one- it can power on/off & has features that I don't use, but someone may need them.

This is a great receiver if you need it for amping up your iPod, CD player, or any other audio device.
Its setup is very simple and the sound quality is excellent. I got a refurbished unit and it has not given me any problems over the year. The only con is that it does not have an equalizer built into it - however thats the case with most receivers. You can purchase one separately if you want. It does have the usual treble and bass controls on it though. Its a perfect solution for those that want a small system setup in a room that does not need a 5 speaker system or a complex system.
