Very cute, February 1, 2011
The ONEILL Beacons are very cute, and I got them for a great price. They also come in half sizes, which is nice, since some sneakers don't. The first pair that arrived were a little off -- there was a place in one shoe that hurt my foot as soon as I put it on, and after walking around for just a minute I had an angry red spot on my foot. After inspection I saw that one pair was slightly wider than the other, and the rubber piece that wraps around the toe wasn't aligned the same on each shoe. The vendor was great - sent me another pair right away, after which I returned the first ones. The second pair was fine.
These shoes are not as wide as most sneakers are - they truly are a medium width - the same width as loafers/pumps. I like this, because it seems most "medium width" sneakers today are actually built for wide feet. The canvas is not thick/heavy. The white color in the pattern, the laces, and the rubber is all the same color, but it's off-white, not a bright white. The stitching is not scratchy. I've already worn them without socks and was totally comfortable.
